what is up with this dudes alt mode?? i watched all of armada and i never saw this guy, and i'm just curious as to what hell he is doing as a trailer for an alt mode.
He could be hitched up to the back of Leader Optimus' trailer and Jetfire could perch on top of him in shuttle mode; making for a nice-sized convoy. If I recall, Overload only showed up two or three times in the Armada cartoon towards the end of the show and never had a speaking role. Just appeared out of nowhere and was basically extra guns for Prime.
I think it's meant to be a weapons trailer of sorts (although I can never remember whether that was an official mode, a fan mode off the net, or something I came up with in my own time) - I only remember him appearing once (although I didn't watch all of Armada) and even then he was referred to as Ultra Magnus. The figure is fun - most enjoyment I've got out of something that is essentially a brick.
ohhhh, alright. so overload didnt appear anywhere besides those brief moments nearing the end of that bag of crap we call transformers: armada?
Yeah, he sorta just showed up after the Mini-cons resurected Prime via the Matrix. And yeah, he never had a speaking role (outside of the spoken "COMBINE!" in the stock footage of him becoming Prime's artilery backpack ). Interestingly, the Universe Overload (another of those Cyb. Def. Scattorshot redecos, I think the Autobot 8-bit camo one) is supposed to be Armada Overload during Cybertron, and the bio, amusingly enough, mentions his unknown origins being something even HE is confused about
I really liked that toy. He was a total brick, but a uber-detailed, tough as hell, fun to smash other toys with, brick. Of course my not-so-fondest memory is of him being at the heart of the "No Prototype Pic" policy. I still want to smash someone's face for that. Ugh.
While Overload showed up in Armada a couple of times, he was always in trailer mode or gun mode. The toon never showed robot mode or the Minicon partner in any mode at all.
i prefer the energon magnus repaint, but overload stays with regular prime/jetfire, and energon with plx prime/jetfire
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the toy was simply called Ultra Magnus in Japan. Which explains his alt mode.
