I haven't seen many mentions of RAGE here, despite how popular Id games are in the gaming community. And since the game releases tomorrow, I was curious as to what you guys think of the game.

Personally, I think the game looks to be very fun. It has a different aesthetic to the art that sets it apart from other post-apocalyptic games (namely Fallout). The vehicle combat looks to be fun, and pre-ordering the game gets you some fun stuff (a sawed-off shotgun, a rat rod to replace the buggy, a special armor and spiked knuckles). All in all, I am really excited for this game.

I'm on a budget right now, lol. Skipped Gears of Wars to get Shadow of Colossus, but this is next on my list. I need to get it before Batman comes out.

I'm a huge id nerd, so this is a must-buy for me.

Gamefly shipped it out yesterday. Was surprised, but wasn't the first time I'd be getting a new release the same week. Hopefully I get it tonight and can check it out.

Joe, did you get, or plan to get, Shadow of Colossus?

I think Rage looks incredible, but I'm playing Gears a lot more than I thought I would and Batman is right around the corner.

I don't think I'll be picking this up.

I know the feeling. I'll probably get this somehow, I'm just not sure when.

It's an easy decision for me given my personal "meh-ness" toward FPS in general.

Yeah, I have the same 'meh-ness', too.
I totally disconnect from my character when all I can see of him is the barrel of his gun.

But I have to admit that Rage does look excellent.

I heard the PC version is totally buggy. I'm really surprised by this. What's going on at id Software?!

I don't think I can afford to skip rage, I might be picking it up for the PC in a few days. Looks too sexy to skip, now there's 3 games I want this month: Rage, Battlefield 3 and Arkham City. Guess I'll just wait to get AC for Christmas.

Playing as a moving gun just isn't escapist enough for me.

I play video games so I don't have to be me. Same reason I usually prefer female characters in RPGs.

For a me to like a FPS it has to have not just good, but GREAT gunplay. Otherwise, I have no interest whatsoever. Rage looks like it could be pretty damn good to me for a FPS.

But you like Halo, yo! ;)

Got this yesterday. Haven't stopped playing it. Looks so damned smooth. Didn't like the driving at first because I was used to motor storm apocalypse controls but as soon as I got a buggy all of that changed. The weapons are a freaking blast too.

Started playing it last night (PS3). That 8GB install took its sweet ole time didn't it? After that though, it's pretty good so far. The graphics are amazing, but I do not like the constant lag on loading textures. That pisses me off. Like the pace so far, hope the gunplay gets a bit better as you acquire new weapons. The pistol kinda sucks.

It will. It gets pretty intense. I watched an episode of Enterprise during the install, lol

I rented it last night and I agree on all fronts. The pop-in on PS3 is kinda annoying. That said, the graphics are beautiful. When I looked to the sky it blew me away. It almost looks like digital video at times.

And, yeah, that starter pistol kinda sucks. lol

I wonder if they can patch this. Uncharted does this at the beginning of levels, but it almost streams it in the background, because you don't notice it once the levels begin.

I actually wanted to try this game out on the 360 but my Blockbuster was all rented out, so I settled for the PS3 version.

It seems that the textural pop-in on the PS3 is a typical complaint by many on the interwebz.

I'm surprised it doesn't happen on the 360, since it streams off the disc more and used to do that like mad on Mass Effect. Like I said, Uncharted (which is pretty texture intensive) manages to only do this when you start an area.

Yeah, weirdness. Then again, developing games for the PS3 is tricky business, I guess.

Unless you're naughty dog or sucker punch. Still, Rage looks bloody amazing all the same, and I notice the textures hold up amazing when you're driving fast.
