There is a user registered on ebay as "ladiesman217". What is interesting is that the user has apparently not sold or bought anything, has been registered since Nov 2006 and is from California. http://myworld.ebay.com/ladiesman217/ I wonder if the people involved with the movie will use it as a promo tool and offer items from the movie or perhaps autographs. Anything is possible. But most likely the movie people registered for it so that some poor guy doesn't get the ID later and then is bombarded with prank emails.

Was that user name the one from the leaked script? Maybe someone just liked it back when they read it and jumped on the bandwagon (although your explanation is better!!!)
I checked the script and there is no mention of his ebay username in the February revision, which i believe is the most recent script available on the net. Also, the movie adaptation comic has his name as HotStud217, up until the "ladies man" TV spot was released I am not aware of the username being mentioned before. Good find!

wouldn't they have to register it anyway? I mean, when a TV show or movie makes a mention of a website, they have to create it, so I'm sure it was registered awhile back with the full intent of the movie. I am going to agree and say that it will be used as a promotional tool.
That username especially caused me to perk my ears up. I've often used usernames that ended with 217--a number I picked several years ago. Usually I use Poocho, but every now and then that's taken, in which cases I have no problem simply putting 217 on the end. I find it quite the coincidence that they picked the same number. Actually I tried to rename my eBay account to that right after I finished watching the movie but it was taken I thought about that it could be possibly the actual account but thats impossible. Because when you look at the eBay page on the movie, it looks very different from the actual eBay itself. The fonts are all different.
I kinda have to chuckle every now and again. If Barricade had actually bid on the glasses through Ebay. The Movie wouldn't have happened. Haha!
