Are you completist? Do you buy more then 1 of each toy?

I only buy alternators and I did start purchasing two of each. But after awhile I only purchased two of each of different car models. I do have all the alternators right now and the only doubles I have are rumble or ravage.

I've never been a completist, I mainly just buy what looks good to me, I've bought most of the classics line though with the exception of the minicons and have doubles to keep MISB of most of them as well. I hate kibble on tfs which is why I have hardly anything from BW thru cybertron.

I am far from a completist, but I like to buy repaints if I like a mold. For example, there are some GF/Cybertron figure I didn't get at all, but I have 3 versions of Ransack/Gasket.

When I have some more money (as if), I will buy my favourite molds MOSC/MISB...

I never intentionally buy more than one of each toy. When it does happen, its usually from buying lots off Ebay (waiting on one more lot to get here so I can sell off my extra micromasters and minibots).

Nah.... not a completist. Being a completist would be too stressful for me, and turn it from a fun hobby into an obsessive chore. I don't want to be a slave to my toy collection.

I guess I'm a NEAR-completist with Binaltechs, at least I was until Black Convoy. And I've been a completist with Classics, but that's a pretty small commitment. Otherwise, no way.... I think it would drive me nuts and ruin my life. What kind of hobby is that?!?

Being a not-quite-completist is actually pretty liberating, I find. Like, leaving out one or two figures from your collection removes the obligation to complete the line. For example, I deliberately passed on a few 6-in. Ti figures that I really disliked (Soundwave and Op Op) and now I feel no compulsion whatsoever to buy anything other than the figures I really like from the line!

I would call myself a "mold/signifigant paint deco completist". Basically, I have that mold, and am willing to buy signifigant paint deco changes to it. US video Razorclaw, for instance, is nigh-identical in every respect to BW Neo Rockbuster, so I did not obtain both. By comparison, Universe Oil Slick and Universe treadshot have a major color change and some more subtle ones between them, so I would buy both of those. I generally don't bother with Lucky Draws, but I will try to get stuff like Japanese event exclusives if it can be done for non-obscene amounts.

As far as multiples, I currently have duplicates of nearly every store exclusive since BW, and duplicates for all but one of the conventions since I began attending Transformers cons. However, if I have only one, it's open. I don't care how rare it is.

I'm fairly well a completist as far as US releases go. Heck, I actually bought all the Universe stuff just to make it complete. I had gotten back into the collecting bit back in 2002 right around the time RID was finishing and Armada was starting. I've managed to stay up fairly well with all releases. As I stay up with the current stuff, I've managed to work my way back a series at a time.... RID, then Beast Machines. I'm currently working on Beast Wars and even have a good start on G2. Getting the BotCon ones are the hardest.

As far as doubles, I used to buy more, but sold a lot of my loose figures last year. I only get a second now of ones I really want.

I couldn't afford to hold on to three of each, much less find them. I count my blessings when I have the money to buy the Alts when I find them. Hard enough to find two.

I've never bought more that one figure per mold.

That means, I don't buy repaints or remolds. Just one.

The only lines I've completed have been Classics and Cybertron (I wanted to complete the Alt. line, but the Nemesis Prime stuff put the kibosh on that). The only line I've bought multiples of have been Classics....I bought an extra of everything (except the mInicons, LoC, Soundwave and Devastator) to keep MiB, and I bought 7 Starscreams and 6 Ramjets beyond that for kitbashing. Eventually I wouldn't mind tracking down most of the Grimlock toys MiB, but that can wait awhile.

I'm generally not a completist, but the exception was with the Alternators line, and that was by accident. It started with Shockwave which I bought on a whim, "wow this is really cool" I thought, then bought all the other three or four alts. available in the UK at the time on the strength of Shockwave's awesomeness. Then it was "I quite like Vipers", so I imported both of them (Sunstreaker wasn't out then); then "I really like Grimlock, Wheeljack, and Meister", got them. It kind of snowballed from then on until the end of last year where all that was left to get was Sunstreaker, Ricochet, Rollbar and Hound, well I thought "I might aswell get those remaining since I've got everybody else", it was then I realised I was completist. Of course I had to get Ravage and Rumble.

As for other lines, I dabbled with Cybertron, Universe, Classics and G1 reissues but nothing holds my attention like the Alternator and Binaltech lines did.

    I don't buy duplicates usually.

Not a completist, but I do tend to get more than one of items I like. The original point was "one for display, one for fiddlin'", though I can't say for sure if that's why I do it now.

I am a completist when I like the stuff. For example, the movie toys. Most, if not all of them, look like crap...so I will not be buying them. But, the Cybertron toys I bought like 99 percent of them. I loved them. And that line was the first line I started buying doubles. Some of them, not all of them, though.

No way, multiples are a waste. Then again my TF total is currently...6? (9 if you count minicons)

    im a fanfictionist...
the fic is that my universe consists of my collection... and my collection is my fanfic.

i only 'store buy' names/molds that arent in my collection yet. although i pick up anything i find at thrifts and yard sales... so those either get repainted, or just a name change...

I am a reformed completist. I used to go after EVERYTHING, but all teh Minicon recolors (especially the campaign and DVD Minicons) and lucky draws cured me :)

More and more I'm drawn to the other lines I collect too...the simplicity of vintage robots like the Soul of ChoGokin line especially appeals to me. The movie figures are going to be the first line I've ever gone into with no intention of getting them all.

I used to be, for Star Wars and Transformers. Had one of those obscene 3500+ figure count collections. I managed to keep all my stuff in reasonable shape as a kid, then just kept expanding as I got older. After Phantom Menace reduced the value on my vintage SW collection by about 50%, I sold out. Everything. And the only thing I missed were my Dinobots and my Soundwave.

So now that I'm back in, I've got nearly 100 bots, with a shelf full of Soundwaves, and Dinobots on the way. I'm only picking up figures I like, or figs I miss from the old collections (i.e., no BW Bonecrusher or Injector on the shelf). It's much more fun this time around (and way cheaper).
