A while back, when haunting around a few of the forums I haunt, I noticed how much the negative comments of TF fans have a tendancy to outweigh the positive. Thinking this to be an intresting point, I checked out a few other "geek" forums [D&D, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc..] and noticed that for the most part we are by far the worst for it. Now, this wasn't an indepth look, more of a quick glance (it was half three in the morning), but I thought it's a point to make for discussion.

So: Are we, as TF fans, more negative towards our chosen product than the majority of the the other fan communities?

Also: Do you think this affects our relationship with Hasbro? The SW Fans seem to enjoy a much healthier fan commuinty with Hasbro and Lucas Arts than we do.

I'm not negative towards Transformers. I might be a bit picky about certain parts of the franchise, but I absolutely love TFs and think positively about 'em.

I couldn't bring myself to spend enough time on forums that don't interest me to allow me to formulate a worthwhile opinion.

Honestly, this forum is just as good/bad as any other toy-related forum I check.

Although Star Wars fans can be alittle worse, because for the most part no one cares about your collection unless you have something really rare, like Harrison Ford's underpants that he wore on set during the battle of Hoth in Empire Strikes Back. Then you're hardcore enough and people there respect you.

People can real opinionated about things they really care/obsess about.

exactly...plus besides if we were on boards where no whiners were, who would we have to mock and have fun with?

It's alway fun to watch people whine...and then offer them some cheese to go along with their whine...

    To answer the question, yes.

Having said that, this is still the nicest site I've ever been on. Seibertron is pretty nice too. Despite my overbearing clownish tendencies, no one's really told me to go *(#& myself...

    ...yet.

I'm reminded of a conversation I got into with some coworkers during a few years ago.

"Hey, you're a Transformers fan, right?"
"No, I'm not a fan. I actually like things."

    This.

Not offending anyone here, but in general, this is the most negative forum I'm a member of. I always try to find the positive of what news comes out of the Transformers franchise, but usually positive or reasonable opinions are out-numbered by "OMG WHAT THE HELL?!?" comments.

I think the reason is out of all of Hasbro's toylines, Transformers isn't addressed as much as, say, Star Wars or G.I. Joe.

Back in the day, when I first got back into Transformers, I noticed the fans were not like the Star Wars and Star Trek fans with all the griping, complaining, and whining.

Unfortunately, the fandom has caught up with them...

No. Hasbro is our restaurant, and sometimes we find hair in the meal, that's all.
Collection of whiners is what you find in stupid places like rottentomatoes.com.

I think some people just handle dissappointment better than others and voice it differently.
no franchise is perfect, and people are gonna complain about something sooner or later.
