    Aren't all WST technically bootlegs?

Not even remotely. Takara made the original WSTFs.

But these jets aren't authentic either. Heero makes his own WSTF figures, usually jets and Prime trailers.

How many are official? I remembered reading once about them being unlicensed. I don't own any WST's, didn't know that.

only a few. It didn't take long for their to be a ton of lunch time specials.

99% of the time just go for the normal toys and stay away from anything with black edition and crystal in its name.

Prime had a few repaints mostly just window colours being changed and other minor paint apps 2 were sold in the packs and 1 in a mini g1 set with megatron who had blue plastic rather then red.

The "WST Dinorobots" are certainly unlicensed, as are the WSTFs by Heero. There's also some fan-produced kits and figures, which Takara didn't make but were licensed for sale in conventions (Magnus armor, Arcee, Stepper I think, stuff like that).

Your average figure? Like Soundwave or Hot Rod, Red Alert or Thrust, or that magazine exclusive Prime/Megatron boxed set or whatever else you'll probably find? Official. Takara sold them blind-packed like candy toys, and made three notable series. Look it up on the wiki.
