    Sorry for the noob question

Are there two versions of alternators?

One line being slightly larger than the other but exactly the same otherwise?

    (not talking about knock-offs)

There are 2 kinds, but not sizes. The Alternators are US releases and made out of plastic. The Binaltechs/ BTAs and Kiss Players are the Japanese versions and all but a few are made of diecast metal. I consider the Masterpiece collection as the Leader (Ops, Magnus & Megs) and Voyager (Starscream & Skywarp) class of the Alt/BT/BTA/KP line.

You might be crossing details in your head with the Happy Well Road-Bots, which are Alternator-esque and have toys in two scales, 1/18 and 1/36 (or is it 1/32 ?)
