I'm working my way through reading all the old Transformers Universe profiles and saw that Jim Sorenson's blog had a few extra that weren't actually included in the comic. Are these all that exist? Is it possible that there are more Budiansky-penned extended profiles for more characters? Heck, did this practice continue after Bob was completely done with the franchise? I'm really interested in these and wish that there was a true definitive and complete collection of all the original bios.

 

This ought to have what you're looking for. Everything from the miniseries and then a supplementary archive, containing everything published in the backs of the regular title, and then a bonus archive- From the production bible I believe.

Anything post-'85 is, sadly, not Budiansky, as far as I know.

Are you including or considering the More Than Meets the Eye profile books started by Dreamwave and republished by IDW?

 

Those took a completely different approach, with many characters' profiles being written from an in-universe as-told-by-another-character perspective. Also, many personalities were created from scratch for the MTMTE, and some even clash with existing Marvel profiles.

The Omnibots got the worst deal:

- Minimal group bio in the instructions
- Inividual functions given in the last mail-order flyer featuring them
- Full Japanese-market bios that didn't reflect their Western functions (also, Downshift and Camshaft had their names swapped)
- Officially unreleased Western bios, both in the full "Transformers Universe" style and in the shortened on-package bio style, which contradicted everything else
- Dreamwave MTMTE bios, which once again mostly ignored everything that came before (although there were some overlaps, they were the exception rather than the rule)

 

Wow! That's great. Other than those, the Deluxe Autobots and Insecticons, are there any other characters with Universe style bios?

And yeah, I'm not really a fan of the MTMTE bios for several reasons.
