It seems like every forum I've ever been to G1 is hated on. Where are the rest of the G1 fans? Am I the only one who enjoys the show despite it's errors?

 

Can't take credit for this one, but I once saw someone post, "G1, I love you... I'm just not IN love with you anymore."  

That's pretty spot on for me.

 

I still like G1. It's okay. it lost it's luster fairly quick with me, when I got on a "nostalgia kick" before beast wars and rented some of the old episodes, and was shocked that it wasnt as amazing as I remembered.

but it's still good. I'd still consider myself a fan.

and if we're not talking just the TV show (with this being in TF General and all), then I have to say hell yes, I'm still a big fan, as I love the marvel comics, and still add to my G1 toy collection whenever I get the chance.

 

All true fans are G1 fans.

I have always been a G1 fan, just moved on to Diaclone fan but in a way that still counts....

 

Depends on what aspect of G1 you're talking about. I love the toys and the original Marvel comics, but dislike the Sunbow G1 cartoon.

 

Why? All I see is hate for it on here and other boards. I feel the like the only one who still likes it. I still my DVD sets and enjoy them.

 

It reigns supreme for me purely out of nostalgic value. It reminds me of a simpler time. The two high times for TF's after G1 were Beast Wars and Animated in my opinion.

 

Well what he said. But I think the cartoon has not aged well. And honestly there´s also a bit of good old racism in there (Carbombya anyone?).

To be honest tho, even when I was a kid the only toys I really cared for where the combiners.. 

 

I love G1 now just as much as I ever have. I love the cartoon and the toys. But I still like most other TF series. I love the Bay movies, and Beast Wars, and the Japanese series. Not too fond of AEC, but the toys were nice. RiD was good, and Beast Machines was... Lets not talk about that one.

 

I still like it. It's not my favourite, but it's up there. Sure it's campy, but for an 80's toy commercial, it has staying power. I think that's actually kind of a silly question, considering how many people here are regularily vocal about their love of G1.

 

I love the G1 cartoon not for nostalgic value. I just enjoy it. Can't stand BW or the Unicron trilogy. I did like Animated. But G1 always reigns supreme for me. I wish there was a board where I could talk G1 and people actually felt the same way.

I'm a huge G1 fan.
I just don't post as much as I used to as most things around here are movie-centric at the moment, and I'm only a minor fan of the movies. Heck, I haven't even seen the second one yet.

 

Yeah the 2nd movie really turned me off, but that's for another thread lol. I always thought you were an Energon fan by looking at your avatar lol.

 

Overreacting much? I mean you called me a hater simply because I happen to have an unoficial nickname for Siliverstreak, Prowl and the other autobot car.

Anyone else, does calling them "Autobot Triplets" makes me a G1 hater?

 

While recently rewatching a few G1 eps, I was struck by how dramatically the quality varied from episode to episode. MTMTE 1-3 still look pretty terrific, while a good number of S2 and S3 are just awful.

That's not news to most people, obviously... and I certainly didn't care when I was ten, that's for certain!
