I always thought it was just the packaging, but a friend who is not always reliable said the plastic is much cheaper. I knew someone on here would be informed about these things and could possibly shed some light on the subject. I have been wanting to plop down some cash for a korean big convoy for some time, but not till I find out the quality differences. All help is greatly appreciated.

I have several of Sonokong's Takara toys (Braves and Transformers) and there are no quality differences on any toys that I have. The only difference I have heard of is Brave Max has an upside down Autobot symbol and from the Brave Series J-Decker the toys have yin-yang stickers instead of the Brave Police badges.

Plastic and quality control is about the same IMO.

EDIT: Sonokong is the company that released Transformers in Korea.

Price seems to be the only difference. I have the following Korean (sonokong):

    Big Convoy
    Black Convoy
    Galvatron- BWII
    JRX
    God Magnus
    Magnaboss

The only quality problem I have had was on God Magnus. As I was making Omega Supreme I got too excited. I yanked on his head and broke one of the clips holding it on the pin. Totally my fault. Still works and displays well.

The Sonokong versions of BW2 toys don't have rub symbols.

Magnaboss is considered BW2 isn't he? Santon, Skywarp. and Lio Jr all have rub signs on mine. Where would Galvatron's be?

Galvatron's is on his beast thigh/robot lower leg inside the part that flips down to form the tread.

Maybe what I heard about 'em is wrong then. I know a lot of people have said that at least Lio Convoy doesn't have his rub symbol. I assumed it applied to the rest of them as well.

The TF urban legend that the plastic is better on the Takara stuff is false. I do have both the Takara and Sonokong versions of Starscream and BB and the joints are significantly tighter on the Takara version.

In fact, I've had to manually tighten screws on a number of Sonokong BW and Brave items. Outside of that and the occasional stickers, no differences.

OK, I just checked Galvatron-BW2. There is the indent for the sticker but, there is no siticker.

Possibly some have them and some don't. So, OK, other than some missing the rub sign and some not.....there is no difference.

I have a few Sonokong Braves. The plastic quality is the same on both but some have worse paint application (Super Guardion has a black head instead of blue and a lot of the preapplied stickers and to unapplied stickers have different colours even though they should be the same?!?!). The also fail to colour in the blacks around the eyes on ANY of the Bravbes that have them. This may just be a problem with the brave side since TFs dont have those. Paint differences suck :( .

Sonokong's stuff is every bit as good as the Japanese releases. I've got a few of their TFs and a lot of their Braves. The only thing to watch out for is Sonokong tends to use their molds quite extensively, so there might be a little degradation on later releases from where the molds have been used so much.

But the actual quality should be the same as the Takara originals.
