Okay, I find it a bit confusing and wanted to speculate.

Here we have Rampage revealed to be a deluxe size transformer.
    Rampage article

Here's the earlier stated rampage shot

Here is the Rampage from the Devastator set
    [IMG]

Are they releasing two different sets? Like a Devastator set so they can make up Devastator but individually not really detailed in their transformations and another set where they are individually detailed as stand alone items?

There's a deluxe figure, and a self-contained Devastator set. The combiner Constructicons do not turn into robots, just limbs and vehicles. The individually packaged Constructions turn into vehicles, and robots, but not limbs.

Logic dictates, that since the point of the combiner Devastator was to have an accurate robot mode, at the cost of individual robot modes, that every single Constructicon will get a TRUE individual figure. Rampage and Demolisher/Scavenger are just the first to be announced.

None. Thus, all the hate for the figure.

Hasbro is apparently unaware of the
current economic situation in the US.
    They're figuring on everyone
    buying both sets of constructicons.
Instead if making 2 sets of figs,
they should have made just one.
6 combining figs that have all 3 modes.
Robot > vechicle > combining limb.
Like they've done with every other
    combiner since original devestator.
The $100 set is going to shelfwarm bigtime.
Right alongside the re-issue ultimate BB.
The collectors are already saying no.
What chance does hasbro have if
convincing non-collectors to shell out $100.
    Little to none.

I think you're looking at it backward, mirarage. I believe that Hasbro is giving us two distinct options to purchase for our KIDS, as the toys are just that...items made for kids. At any rate, I could care less what they're planning to make, as I'll do what I always do--purchase the ones I want, and not bitch about the ones that never were.

yeah, but i really think hasbro's got it wrong.. i mean, like mirarage said, every combiner since G1 had the 3-mode thing going.. why couldnt they just keep that up? btw, is it confirmed that the individual constructicons DONT combine? obvious question i guess

I'm still wondering why they are calling it Rampage when it's Movie1 Bonecrusher's face and G1 Bonecrusher's alt mode.

yes and we get a cheese yellow color rather than a Catapiller yellow like a proper construction vehicle.

so to save money, instead of making 1 toy that combines and turns into a robot... they made two toys?

Sorry, but that saves money how? :lol

    ZING!
no, but in all serious, this and almost every movie figure is and will continue to be a bastardization as opposed to a cool modern adaption of an old thing. the only person who defies this rule in my opinion is optimus.

It does cost a lot more time and money to for R & D to engineer a Transformer that turns into both a robot and a combiner limb. By not being restrained by both modes, Hasbro toy designers can make two toys more accurate to their intended purpose of either a robot or a body part. I would like to see pictoral or video reviews of the combined toy before considering it for purchase.

Maybe they should've packed both versions of each part in with each other. Normal transforming Rampage and then one that's the non-robot version which can then combine. But then I guess that would impact sales of the deluxes because they'd cost more having the extra part.

I would guess that the overall tooling of both the gift set and individual peices are cheaper for Hasbro.

It may look like we are getting two different figures, but if you think about the Rampage figure, for example, they can use *some* of the tooling for various parts on both versions. Basically alot of the vehicle parts and kibble on the gift set version can be reused on the regular released version, too.

I also think the gift set will be one of those things that repainted; maybe towards the holidays. And I still contend that the gift set itself isn't costing Hasbro alot to make - large vehicles that turn into a misshapen limb should be easy. I doubt the gift set is going to be any technological wonder that will rival TakTomy's MP figures.

One is a collector's item intended for an adult audience, the other is a toy for children.

Why would anyone be concerned about comparing them like that?

"Hey, the chicken nuggets in this Happy Meal lack the flavor complexity of my grandmother's famous rotisserie chicken! What gives?"
