Real ones? Not particularly. They draw heavily from archetypical stories from WWII fiction, especially movies like "The Dirty Dozen" (who are somewhat based on a real story) and "The Devil's Brigade" or even "Kelly's Heroes", in that they're a bunch of misanthropic misfits who basically get sent to do the dirty work on suicide missions not only because they're good at it, but because they don't really fit in anywhere else. You could also draw parallels to films like The Seven Samurai / The Magnificent Seven, if you wanted. But it's mainly those WW2 movies about ragtag units of troubled troops who are sent on what are presumably one-way missions.
