Unlike the Beast Machines Dinobots, nowhere on the package do they indicate that they are a subline(i.e the BM Dinobots also had the Beast Machines Logo). It seems to be more along the lines of Machine Wars where it was an entire line just for a single store chain.

The typefont they used for Transformers while is the same as RID, IIRC they don' say Robots in disguise under it and intead of saying "Robots in Disguise" it just reads "Dinobots". Or am I wrong?

I was under the impression they were kinda from RID and kinda from Armada, kinda like the KB Destructicons.

They never said Universe on the package I don't think.

I'd call them a subline, a very tiny one at that.

But don't they have to be part of a regular line in order to be a sub line?

I always thought of them as part of rid, in there on subline is more the way its ment to be I would think.

Yes. They're under Armada on my personal spreadsheets; having only the "Dinobots" moniker makes it pretty subjective. If someone were to make a case for them being RiD-associated, I wouldn't really argue about it.

The KB Destructicons (Scourge & Bludgeon) are a different story; their packaging clearly indicates they're part of RiD.

Since the overall packaging is Armada based packaging with the color scheme and tri-language all over the package, I would put these under Armada. But you can make an arguement for Robots in Disguise/1st Universe Series, because both Walmart exclusives Artic Camo Runation and Yellow Landfill have the Armada style packaging, but have Robots in Disguise under Transformers.

I put my Wal-Mart Dinobots on the same shelf as the Beast Machines Dinobots. Even though there's mold reusage, they're all different characters and all Dinobots. (yes, I know one of the Wal-Mart ones says Triceradon, but the other 4 are there, so he's obviously Slag).

    But officially? They're just "Dinobots"...

I classify them as their own line on my website, for whatever that's worth. With no bios, it's hard to say.

    Officially?

    "Exclusive Product".

    Sorta officially?

    "Armada".

They had Armada packaging, lacked any words under the "Transformers" logo, and were often placed within the Armada figures on the shelves due to the fact it was the same packaging.

I seem to recall Archer being asked about it a Botcon and just saying something like "uh... Universe... I guess"

They did have "Armada" graphics, but those graphics were also used for many RID exclusive repaints released around the same time.

So by the graphics that could make them either Armada or RID.

But then I'd have to go by the actual product. The toys did not have minicons or any minicon pegs... so the don't fit in with the Armada product theme. The toys are exclusive repaints like many other RID exclusives from the time period, so they do fit in with the RID product theme.

I've always just thought of them as Expanded Universe toys, but they're really Universe toys which you can fit into whicever line you wish.

The graphics are not exclusively Armada graphics. They were used for many RID toys as well.

When Hasbro had their official Transformer toy list up on their website, they were listed as part of the Armada line.

That's right, I'd forgotten there was that official-ish confirmation. Pretty sure that's a main reason why I've always associated them with Armada.

on a sort of related topic, what did the Target exclusive Big Convoy have on the package? was it Universe 1.0?
