By RG repaints I mean WireTapV20 and Night Beat 7. I've had them for about a week but I haven't opened them yet, considering the $15 could be used elsewhere. Are they as cool as they seem, or should I just take them back to Walmart? Leaving them sealed is also an option. Pics and whatever would probably help influence a "keep/open" decision. I do have their originals. Thanks SB
Keep whichever color scheme you think is cooler. If you keep the repaint, return the original. If you can't return the original, put it back into the repaint's box and return that. Sneaky, but, yeah...
I don't plan on getting any real gear repaints. Unless they do an ultra cool G1 homage down the line, like how somebody painted the game controller like Beastbox.
I'm glad I saw pictures of wiretap before I ever saw speed dial in stores. I skipped speed dial since the mono-eye makes more sense for a decepticon than an autobot.
I say open 'em. They look great, as do the originals, and the RG is too short to be hung up on repaints. There last three coming are especialy nice, with the Boombox homage. (most likely un-intentional) Open them up and enjoy them while you can. I did. Plus, I like having the Cell phone bot's being Rumble and Frenzy, only Frenzy's a spy. ( ) Sorry, the only pics I took of WT were in the LOLgear strip I did where he and Meantime stole Slapper's tounge.
Speaking of Slapper, thanks to your love of the RID Preds, I have all 4 coming in next week. They better be as good as you say they are, or I'm out $12. (seriously... $12 for all 4... shipping included) The only thing I was worried about with the 3 coming up... It offsets the balance. That leads me to believe there's at least 1 (or 3) more coming to re-create the balance the line has maintained. I have another 80 or so days left on the reciept, so I don't need to decide tonight...
The cellphone repaint is awesome. I skipped the first version when I saw pics of the Frenzy-ish repaint.
Glad I could help! You'll thank me. Don't worry, they are. At the absolute least they are amazing for display, Sky-byte especialy. In fact, I really haven't been without them in my house since I got them. They're either on my self or on my table or (as of right now) on my desk. Great deal! Seriously, not bad.
My budget for Sky Byte alone was $15... Getting all 4 for less than that seems like a steal. Hooray for hijacking my own thread!
I wish there was an applause smilie. Oh well, you can just look at my avatar, it has a double-meaning as an applause icon and a P.S.A.!
How is it a PSA? (I never watched RID... Beast Machines pretty much took me out of the hobby for a while... I only jumped in at the end of RID with Galvatron, the build team, Obisdian, and Ruination and completely missed the cartoon)
The anouncment is: don't get tricky if you're a jellyfish. Though you may not get that if you haven't seen RID.
I'll figure it out if/when I ever get around to finding RID on DVD. Right after I get RID Scourge and Rail Racer. For the record, this is the longest I've ever kept something sealed. And I didn't die. And the world didn't blow up.
The basic plot of the episode "The fish test" (episode in question) is Sky-byte, and how he thinks he's so smart, but he's really dumb and really unlucky. It's episodes like that and "Sky-byte saves the day!" that make him my favorite character. The joke stems from when he takes one of those goofy online personality tests that appear in pop-ups and (even though he's a shark) it tells him he's a jellyfish. Sideburn also takes the test but gets the bonito fish (which is apparently a tough fish) and uses it to one-up Sky-byte and gets him to do shark tricks. (and bark like a seal, complete with ball on nose as seen in my avatar)
I come in to comment on RG toys and I find RiD talk Not sure about RiD but in Car Robot Gershark also tested his compatibility to Fire Convoy, that was funny. Anyway, personally I don't like those molds enough to buy the repaints, but if I bought them I'd definitely open. Donating sounds cool as well. I'd just hate unopened toy lying around.
If you're broke or at least really in need of money - and it seems you are - it is not worth your time to keep figures you're not even sure you want, especially MISB, when you could return them instead and recoup the money you've spent. The retail on the two of them is about equal to what you spent on the RID Predacons shipped. Wouldn't it be nice to feel as if you didn't spend any money on them? (You did either way, but still.)
