Right, so when there was talk about 40 generation toys being revealed I think alot of people equated that to 40 classics.

Well, with the reveals at Botcon we now know that isn't the case...at least not in the sense that they are modern takes of G1 characters in the first 11 out of those 40 at least.

So, my question to you is do you think that the new generation toys should be considered classics/chug, and if so why?

How about if they actually are Classics? If they're FoC, then they're not updates of G1 figures, therefor not Classics. If they are updates... then they are.

This isn't a solid line you can completely shoe-horn into or out of the greater grouping of Classics.

what's been revealed so far is FOC. whether you consider that to be in your classics lineup or not is up to you. I personally have all my wfc figures on another shelf, and these will go with them.

I group my WFC figures with my classics, so I feel they are considered in that category. Released in the same line as classics, so i feel its ok. Plus they give me the ability to fill some character gaps with Kickback, Shockwave, and Soundwave.

Myself, I just pretend these are the real Cybertron alt modes of the G1 characters.

I find it hard sometimes to figure out Hasbro's logic on some things. They would sometimes repaint movie figures in G1 colors like somehow just slapping some G1 paint on a toy was the same as a Classics release.

So for all I know Hasbro might consider FoC figures as a Classics release even though fans might disagree with this logic. Then again I could be totally wrong and there could be lots of cool stuff we haven't seen yet.

WFC and FOC are classics just not earth modes. I consider them as such. These would go really well on display with my classics.

This. Generations isn't solely classics or FoC but a mix of stuff.

And of the announced some work OK, Shockwave and possibly Magnus and Soundwave, others, not at all.

I think it depends on how you view some of the figures, and whether or not you repurpose them as other characters to what Hasbro has intended.

ie. I'm thinking of getting FoC Fireflight and Sidewipe and repurposing them as Classics Scattershot and Lightspeed

    ^

Thank you for making me buy two of each now.

I was wondering about Hasbro repainting some into 3rd season bots. I wouldn't mind some of them.

Personally, I'm not interested in FOC. But I will add Kickback and Shockwave to my Classics collection.

They go better with Cybertron toys, except Shockwave. That's where I'll put them, with Cybertron stuff, instead of Classics.

I lump my WFC with my Classics collection and I'll do the same with the FOC figures. The new Generations Soundwave will DEFINITELY be standing in on my Classics shelf.

Awesome, I'll be sure to post a comparison pic between him and a Scout when he's released then.
