I can't find out if Henkei! Henkei! toys are officially licensed. Are they? I have an opportunity to buy one, but I refuse to take advantage if it is considered a 3rd party toy.

Yes! They are official. They aren't even licensed: TakaraTomy is a full-fledged partner and co-owner of the Transformers brand.

This really smacks me as a noob question since I'd usually would think that it was common knowledge that all TakaraTomy Transformers are the genuine article.

If you mean Henkei by Takara/Tomy, then yes, they're just as official as Hasbro. They're just the overseas versions.

And holy shit at how many people answered this within the minute.

Yeah... I'm not a noob, but I recognize the TakaraTomy name more than Henkei. I've only ever purchased American toys my entire life, so... this Japanese toy company name... thing... confuses me.

I am assuming Henkei was the line name? Released by Takara?

I'm just a simple American. And I'm not afraid to admit that.

Henkei is the line's name. Much like Generations, Universe and whatnot.

Takaratomy [Takara, pre-2006 I think] is the company that produces and distributes transformers in Japan.

Everyone was so quick to jump on the OP that we failed to touch on the plethora of Henkei KOs that are avilable. To the OP, do your homework and if the deal seems to good to be true, it probably is.

Right. There's Henkei KOs of Starscream, Rodimus, Mirage and Prime that I can name just offhand without research.

Was there ever a KO of the normal Mirage/Ligier, or just the Electrostatic version? And the Rodimus is the Shattered Glass and Wildrider variants, not the regular one.

Henkei! Henkei! is the official name. It's just usually shortened for simplicity's sake.

Funny that Thundercracker // Skywarp ones often retain the doubling of the name mostly when described.

There's a KO Botcon Mirage too - it is very similar but has no rub sign and slightly different vents on the legs and a few other insignificant changes it's also a tiny fraction of the original's price.

Electro Distruptor Mirage is a lot cheaper than he was he used to be like $120.00 now he's less than half that I've seen him as cheap as $40.00.

The KO ones usually have CHMS written on the box though - but you do have to be careful buying loose ones I have to look at the cut outs in the shoulders to easily tell the difference between my Takara and my CHMS Thundercracker as they are so very similar the CHMS Thundercracker even has the properly sculpted eyes some of the later ones lack a bit. I know the nose and the logos are a little different too but so slightly it's hard to tell that at a glance.

Don't worry, as you wade into the pool of internet buying of transformers soon you will learn of the wonders of all the various toylines Japan has to offer and soon your wallet will weep bitter tears as crates of seemingly random toys arrive quarterly from your pile of loot. :)
