The Merger went down in 2006 right? Does anyone feel like the older reissues are better quality then the newer encore reissues?

    Before 06 we had
Optimus x2 or 3? We have had to many optimus reissues lol
    Jazz
    Prowl
    Megatron x2
    Hot Rod
    Rodimus Prime
    Sixshot
Diaclone Ultra Magnus, Yellow Magnus, Regular colors magnus
    Powermaster Prime
    Tracks
    Starscream
    Thrust -ehobby-
    Ramjet -ehobby-
    Dirge -ehobby-
    Skywarp -ehobby-
    Sideswipe -ehobby-
    Thundercracker -ehobby-
    Predaking

Loads more that i'm missing... anyhow, if you compare these reissues to the Encore line, which ones feel better?

Just curious because it seems like the Encore line has tons of little problems associated with it. Bruticus zero diecast, METAL, NON PLASTIC CHEST steeljaw not all the same color... etc.
Although the original reissues had problems too! Like jazz for instance.

This is a good thing. The only part of Bruticus that could possibly look right in chrome is the chest piece, and given how big that is, even that would look very, very odd. Could have done with some die cast, though :)

I didn't think Bruticus had chrome, just stuff moulded in silver plastic.

by chrome I mean diecast parts and yes a Diecast bruticus did happen in the 80's.

Not that I hate my Bruticus or anything but Predaking also has a Plastic version
however,Takara went ahead and used the Metal mold.

Predaking was reissued in 04? 05?

...and the original Starscream reissue had floppy shoulder joints too.

The reissue line has had mixed fortunes for quite some time now. The first few TFC toys went through multiple production runs, but as early as Inferno some weren't doing as well as retailers expected. Stepper was very much overproduced... and as funny as it sounds, the Predaking reissue wasn't a quick mover either.

When Tomy absorbed Takara, they apparently weren't doing well. It does seem like their prices on TFs have risen somewhat since then... whether or not this guarantees better quality is debatable at best.

Bruticus never had any chrome parts. The only Scramble city Decepticon combiners that had chrome parts were Motormaster and Dragstrip.

I don't think there is a quality drop between Encore and previous reissues. I have the Encore minibots and Transformers Collection 12 and the quality seems similar between the two sets.

    And Snaptrap.

I don't feel any difference between Encore and previous reissues.

Yes, when talking about die-cast metal, I refer to it as a metal, rather than a reflective coating.

Not chrome, metal chests. Dragstrip, Wild Rider, Dead End, and Breakdown had diecast metal chests. I have a Menasor set with diecast metal chest limbs. Wish Bruticus/Combaticons had the same treatment, oh well, I'm happy with Encore Bruticus.

It is possible that they couldn't use the die-cast mould tooling because either it was damaged worse than the tooling used for this reissue, lost, or eaten by rabbits. It is always assumed here that both sets of mould tools would've been equally available for Bruticus, but that may not be true.

So, when was the last time that Bruticus' diecast tooling was actually used? 1986? I know the same could be said about Predaking, but he was only released in the 80's and then as a reissue earlier this decade, unlike Bruticus/Ruination/Battle Gaia who has seen numerous releases.

But how did they manage to release Sky Lynx and Omega? Weren't they produced by ToyBox or something?

I'm not sure of the details, but the ToyBox molds were in Tomy's possession, and discovered when the companies looked over their respective inventories after the merge and found a listing for "DINO BIRD" or something like that. (Sky Lynx)
