What I mean by this is do you think some characters are better left to our own imagination rather than been made then end up either not been as good as it could be or just been a completely horrid figure.
Or dont you mind and like to buy toys regardless of weather they met your own expectations. etc

This could go fifty-fifty. A lot of people might complain about someone not having a toy (Prime Breakdown, for example). When they finally get one it is revealed that the size-class is all wrong and the figure itself really isn't that fun. What it comes down to basically is would we rather have no toy for a character, or at least a half-assed try. If you're not worried about scale (which if you are, this might not be the best hobby for you) & transformation than I think something is better than nothing.

It's a fine line. For one, your imagination of the perfect, ideal toy will always be better than what you get (or at least will be 9/10 times). But that doesn't mean they should never make a toy. On the other hand, if you can't do something well, sometimes it's best left not made.

At the end of the day, they are toys, and as such, as long as they are fun to pose and fiddle around with, they've succeeded. Show-accuracy, scale and such are somewhat secondary (as much as us adult collectors want it).

I'll always take the "has a toy" option over the "no toy at all" option, even if that toy doesn't live up to expectations. Better something than nothing.

As frustrating as half assed toys are (and Hasbro makes quite a few), at least you've got the option of buying it.

You can always not buy it and leave it to your imagination if you want.

I've had a few figures where I've thought about this question. The most recent one is BotCon 2012 Gigatron. That's definitely a figure, IMO, better left to the imagination.

Some time I think this could be the case, I've always wanted a dinobot combiner but everything I've seen from offical to kitbash to 3p have been a let down,.

I'd always prefer getting a less-than-optimal toy to no toy at all. It's not like I absolutely have to buy it or anything.

There are a few that i would agree would be left to the imagination,, for example Scrounge, i can imagine that if we got a figure it would be anything that would please collectors.
