Are Prime a title for Autobot leader who manage to open the matrix?

    Hello,i have a question to ask,are "Prime" is a title award to Autobot leader who manage to open the matrix and use it power in the matrix like Optimus Prime or Rodimus Prime etc?

    Ultra Magnus from movie 1986 and Star Saber from victory are Autobot leader too ? is because this 2 cannot open the matrix or carry the matrix ,they are not award the Prime title in the name?

    different continuity's have different rules.

    but in G1 the title prime does seem to be linked to those who are chosen by the matrix to lead. But it does not seem to be mandatory as is the case with Thunder Wing
