So I bought ROTF legends class arcee for a total of 8$ canadian. 6.99 plus tax. My dad was angry =P. He kept comparing her a a chocolate egg kinder toy and that legends class are only worth 1$. I think he is just basing the price off size only. =P

So do you think legends are overpriced?

I go back and forth on the price issue. When you get a truly good figure like wheelie, the price is well worth it. But then I don't think Sideswipe is cool enough to be worth the price. For me, it depends on the figure. Then take into consideration that scouts are only two dollars more (here in the states) and the price of a legends does seem high.

a little, yes. Mostly I think the scout class is too close to the deluxe price.

I'm reluctant to pay the £4.00 they cost now in the U.K.
I try to get them as cheaply as possible, I'd only pay more for something unusual like a green Devastator.

At Walmart in the USA, Legends are about $5 I believe. Considering a sandwich is about $4-5 as well, I don't see them as overpriced.

I can't compare Canadian dollars though, as I'm not sure how much Deluxes and Scouts cost there.

I've asked myself that question too. Here Legends are $5, scouts $7-$8 and deluxes now $12. Legends never go on sale because it the "cheap" toy that parents can buy for their kids while deluxes can still be found at $10 and even $3-5-7 on clearance. As long as you only buy the legend that you like and do not need to have them all then it's okay. The problem is that they are addictive.

They are pretty cheap to me, considering the engineering that goes into them. 4, 5 dollars, is around the reasonable price.

    Everything's overpriced these days. :)

I believe a Legends should sell for 5 or 6 dollars, stateside.

It's times like this that I'm glad I have no interest in legends... to me they seem only slightly better than a McDonald's toy.

I remember when the economy was good.

Legends were $3 when Deluxes were $8. 37.5%

Legends are now $5 and Deluxes are $12. 41.6%

Not too terribly large a price hike. Any place that sells them for more, well, that's simply their right as the retailer.

also remember that the $3 legends were really simplistic, cheaply made things (aside from starscream). Legends class figures didnt start to get really good until the allspark battles subline. look at an ROTF or Universe legend figure next to the cybertron ones. it's embarassing. especially hot shot. oh man, what garbage.

so with the price increase, we also got much better build quality, higher part counts, more detail, and more articulation.

At 4-5 $, I would buy them. However, the single carded ones I seem to find only at the TRUs, and for the past 6 months to a year, have been charging $6.99 for them...which IMO, does deter me from buying them. Except, maybe for ROTF Wheelie, who I have not seen at all in retail.

Though, the 2 pack Target exclusives are a nice deal for $7.

Not the fairest comparison, as Deluxe-class toys are only $8 during sales or 'rollback' periods. Otherwise, they've been around $10 in the US since 1996.

Personally, I think the jump from $3 to $5 is a bit much, but at that economic scale it doesn't particularly bother me. If I like something enough to pay the money, I'll buy it, and that's the way it's always been.

yes, I do find them overprices, for the size and complexity, they should be half the price of scouts.

I find them to be overpriced for what you get. Figures like Brawn or Beachcomber are nice STARTS to a designs that would be a really cool figure at a larger size. Basically, I feel cheated out of a better version and ripped off by the version released. I still have a few though:)

My disregard of Legends probably stems from how crappy the Cybertron ones, actually. But, even when I look at the newer ones, I still don't see anything outstanding. I did like the ones at the end of Universe (Beachcomber, Brawn, Warpath, Cosmos, Wheelie), because they worked as mini-bots, but for all the regular Legends that are just smaller versions of larger characters, there's nowhere they fit in with my collection.
