US boy licks pole, gets stuck - Yahoo!7 News
Yes,And Apparently so are Yahoo for reporting such a ridiculous story.
Considering the amount of TV we watch and all the junk food we eat, I'd have to say.... yes.
But this is something I'd expect a kid to do.
I did that once to a window.
Really, you'd be surprised how good of an idea that seemed at the time.
How the hell is this story news worthy?
Yes. An ellipsis consists of three full stops.
The fact that kids are getting less intelligent has been well observed already.
I'm worrying more about the reporters though, surely someone should have realised that this story was not really news-material?
Every year someone licks a pole, so it's not news worthy in the least. For the question, I say that most kids are, indeed, getting dumber.
I agree with this.....
I can't speak for the rest of the world, but the kids around my way are definitely lacking in intelligence not to mention common sense.
I teach kids on a daily basis, and I would have to say they are getting dumber. It seemed relatively simple when I was a kid...study, get good grades, pass the class. Now, kids think they should pass my class just by attending. Everyday I see kids put up what I like to call "The Shield of Ignorance" by which they won't even let intelligence into their brain in even the most passive manner....they actually deflect learning.
I fear for our future.
I'm trying so very hard to keep my mouth shut right now...
That's pretty much the norm here too. Case in point: I live in Cleveland, there are sidewalks on BOTH sides of EVERY street. Yet everyone who appears to be under the age of 35 walk directly down the middle of the street. What's worse, is they give you the "What the hell do you think you're doing trying to drive down a street where I'm walking" look as you try to drive past. Some of them even refuse to get out of the way and just keep walking slowly as if there wasn't a giant hunk of metal coming towards them. If THAT's not a lack of intelligence, I don't know what IS! I've called the cops, but in my city, if someone hasn't been shot, stabbed, or killed, they just don't seem to care.
Needless to say, I stopped slowing down. Maybe I can thin the heard out a bit.
Tempted to lick a pole?
That sounded less dirty in my head.
Some of the threads we've had in this forum alone over the past few months should be proof positive.
I would definitely say that kids are getting dumber and lack any common sense.
*Facepalms at news about kids getting their tongues stuck licking poles outside in cold weather* And in this case, I'll dump the blame on watching "A Christmas Story" perhaps one too many times.
I fear for this country in 20 years.
Hell I fear this country now!
