With the exception of maybe one of my games, the instruction books have been razor thin. I guess with just about every game having in game instructions/tutorials these books have become obsolete. What do you guys think? Or developers saving money by only having 2 pages worth of instruction books lol.
Some games still come with decent size instruction manuals. Like Final Fantasy 13 and Street Fighter IV for example. War for Cybertron has a pathetic instruction manual.
i liked the map that came with red dead redemption, and i think all gta games have one too. i think they have some instructions on them as well. its a nice creative way to do them.
I never really read them, if that's what you mean, unless it's like Halo and has some nice, cool info in it!
I hate when they skimp out on things like that. I like when they come with extras like the maps for GTA games and Red Dead Redemption or how some of the Metal Gear games have comics.
Just about every game from EA or Activision is like this, no more than an 8 page manual in black and white.
I love old style instructions manuals, full of plot and character summaries, little tidbits of fiction to set the scene, detailed tutorials... It gave me something to read when I was on the bus going back home from the game store. These days you don't get much to read. Half of the manuals seem to be taken up with advertisements.
Instruction manuals are good for one thing and one thing only, emergency pooper reading material. True story.
Elite. Perfect example of this. A flight manual, a book of short stories, and a map. Hell, the Archimedes version included a ship recognition poster, a set of ship recognition cards with full stats for every ship in the game, and a set of logbook sheets. Exile came with a 100+page novella setting the scene. And what do we have now? A page tellling you what the buttons do, and a bunch of ads for other games. Shite.
