With all of the lead paint coming out of China these days, is anyone worried about lead paint on all of the Transformers bootlegs that are also coming from China?

With no safety checks, who is to say that nice new G1 Mirage, Prime, or Grimlock you keep putting in your mouth is not slowly killing you? Especially with Chinese factories discarding what I am assuming is gallons of lead paint because of the scare, what is to stop Joe Bootleg from picking up some discarded blue paint and putting it on your toy to make a quick buck. Just a thought...................

Damnit I like chewing on my TFs too.

In all seriousness, KOs should not be given to kids, just to be safe.

They are not even safe to talk about around these parts. :confused2

Construction-wise... I don't know. With all the legit toys getting pulled from shelves due to problems, I cannot see why there could not be a problem with some of these as well.

They figured they should play it safe and keep the lead to a minimum, instead they decided to boost the melamine numbers through the roof:dunce

You couldn't tell it's a KO these days with the outrageous prices they're charging for a replicated toy from my childhood.

I got news. If my 4 year old is stupid enough to put ANYTHING that isn't food into her mouth, then I have failed as a parent.

    *Sigh*

There weren't mass-recalls of a large variety of toys. Just the entire production runs of a Batman figure, a Barbie doll and a Cars vehicle. And most of them were recalled because of design/production flaws that had to do with magnets. Not lead paint.

No Hasbro toys were recalled. No Transformers.

This whole thing has gotten blown WAY out of proportion. The umphty million units being recalled were mostly MULTIPLES OF THE SAME THREE TOYS. Not millions of DIFFERENT toys.

And KO's aren't "Hasbro toys" ("Transformers").

I was talking about bootleg toys and the fact that if the big boys are using lead paint, you can bet your ass the illegal guys are too, whether intentional or not. With no safety checks, I guess we will never know. Unless someone here knows how to test for lead?

    Test kits are readily available
I won't be putting liquid drops of anything on my toys though.... Strict "no sucking on toys" policy at my place....

I'm going to have to agree on this one... I'll say the same about my little one when she gets that age.

No they are not safe. Bootlegs/KOs come alive at night where they leech off your soul while you are sleeping.
