I get the impression that most of the characters in BW aren't as big as those from other series. Just finished Code of the Hero and comparing how large the primates are to the surrounding characters at that point, it really seems that they're pretty small (the TF that is). Also, their beast modes are the same size as the animals they're based off of. If this were G1 scale for example, they'd be pretty big animals if the TF were average G1 size in robot mode.

Are the TF of the time (essentially, the far future) smaller due to less war or something?

Yes, the writes tried to carry on the Micromsaters story, which suposedly TFs abandoned the big gas guzzling bodies for smaller and more fuel efficient ones. Also, rattrap is one freaking big rat.

Yep, they're smaller than the G1 transformers. Keep watching til the end of the season finale "The Agenda" and you'll see what I mean.

After the end of the Great War, Maximal scientists proposed a measure to conserve energy; it was called The Maximal Upgrade. All Transformers on Cybertron were offered this upgrade. And I quote:
"The deal seems to be pretty sweet. Complete state-of-the-art, bio-tech overhaul. It says here that althought your exostructure is downsized a bit, your latent abilities can be magnified. Tack on the additional fuel savings, and we would be at least ten times more efficient."
-Rodimus, "The Wreckers, Part One" (Botcon 2001 comic)
To put this size change into perspective for you, Quickstrike was supposed to be around 2 metres tall. However the Maximals and Predacons are as powerful (if not more so) than their ancestors were due to the technology used.

    Indeed they are way smaller.
I believe some characters from the second and third seasons are as big or almost as big as G1 transformers (Rampage, Optimal Optimus, Transmetal 2 Megatron, etc.)

    I miss BW :(

Most of the Beast Wars characters are about the size of Optimus Prime's head. I didn't know anything about the specifics (the Botcon comic bit quoted above), but yeah, Maximals and Predacons are smaaall.

Not even close. Granted, those characters were huge compared to other BW characters, but they were still tiny compared to G1 Transformers.

    And I too miss BW.

I always thought that Optimal Optimus was supposed to be roughly the same size as G1 Prime.

Nope, watch "Optimal Situation" again. He's still somewhat smaller than Prime (though colossal compared to the other Beast Warriors).

If you say that Prime is the scale of his Masterpiece toy, the Beast Warriors are about the size of legends, maybe scouts at the largest and Optimal Optimus is about the size of a deluxe, maybe a small voyager.

Well, most gorillas are only about 4-6ft tall, so.... I'd say that a cabover rig is way taller than that, then yeah.

Well, I finished season 2, just started season 3. So yeah, that's a pretty clear answer for me. Even Megatron's mention of energon guzzling.

I wonder if this means people have issues displaying BW toys mixed with other ones.

I also think it's why when Beasts got too much Energon they started to burn out while G1 Transformers merely got drunk. :lol

Yep, most of my Beasts hug the carpet in beast mode. :D

The Beasts of Cybertron/Galaxy Force and RID are an exception.

Doubtful, as let's face it, scale is an issue even in G1 toys. But who knows? There's probably a few eccentrics who take issue with it.

Optimal Optimus was pretty big, but not as tall as Prime, if I remember.

But my question is, how small are the BW characters compared to the tapes of Soundwave and Blaster back in the days of G1? I mean, Ravage was reformatted as well, but is he around the same size he used to be (since he still turned into a cassette in one scene) or even smaller?
