The Autobots are outnumbered and have inferior technology compared to the Decepticons. Why don't they take advantage of used technology?

    1. Take the Mech computers and robot from Bumblebee episode 2.

    2. Take apart Nemesis Prime. (He'll be baaaaaaaack!)

    3. They could have taken technology and weapons from the Harbinger. Starscream was their captive in one half of the ship and told them where the other half was. (Imagine 5 beeping Bumblebees  )

    4. Fowler could have given them Dreadwing's spaceship to use for transportation or parts.

Ratchet could work on adapting the technology while waiting to operate the Groundbridge.

These are very good points. I think the reason they don't though is that the writers want the Autobots' situation to be more difficult so that they'd look more heroic when fighting Decepticons (like an "Against all odds type of scenario").

Actually- why didn't they take stuff from the Harbinger? That's a good question. They could have taken the protoforms and made some new Autobots.

Actually, Bee clones would have their voiceboxes in the same way Starscream's clones had their t-cogs. They're genetic clones, not copies.

The first two points are flawed, since that level of human technology is probably somewhat inferior and currently useless to Cybertronians.

The rest is just the typical lazy writing of the show.

they probably search an probably did take stuff , starscream did say there wasn't ant energon at left in it. The protoform lab was found by accident so team prime if they searched it didn't find it, possible

They put their leftovers in the fridge and eat them the next day just like all of us- oh wait.

I'm pretty sure the ever so wise idiot Optimus Prime would say "Scavenging is below us Autobots, only a Decepticon would commit such a dastardly action, no matter how much of an advantage it could give us in this war, it could impare our judgement somehow."

Ya know after watching this show, I got to say that the Prime-Autobots are the dumbest when it comes to tactics and strategy(Sumeragi from Gundam 00 would puke from the decisions they make). Examples include Optimus willing to give away the Synthetic Energon formula to the Cons giving them an even bigger advantage than they already have, just to keep one soldier(Bulkhead) alive And lets not forgot how Arcee and Bulkhead said in the Cave episode how Optimus wouldn't finish Megatron or Starscream just because they are trapped and helpless(despite that killing the enemy leader and his second in command would be a large blow to the other side).

But yeah like others have said it's the writers they don't know how to tell a realistic war story while keeping the series going for a long time(like Gundam), so they have heroes making stupid decisions just to prolong things, or keep up the against all odds theme.

You know it's quite possible that the government dosen't want the Autobots to get too much of the technology either stolen or discovered. Perhaps the Autobots wanted to scavenge it but the Goverment wouldn't allow them to get too much of it and if they did allow it only gave the Autobots a few so that the Government sees fit as well as feel comfirtible because while the Government doens't hate them they don't trust them fully either.

I may be wrong but I wouldn't be suprised if that was the case. So can't we see if that was the case first before we call off the writers as being lazy and poor? Because at this point it's starting to get old and for all we know there could be a good reason for why the Autobots didn't scavenge later on.

The government has no control over the Harbinger.

True but for things like Dreadwing's ship they do.

And maybe the Autobots at the time didn't think the Harbringer had enough supplies and resources to help them out. If they did later on they'll certainly go for it.

I wonder what the autobot think of protoforms. I think it would be the equivalent of today with people and cloning. Would the autobots create a clone of bumble bee and harvest it's organs then place them back in bumble bee? If the bots did find the protofors what would they do to them? ( if screamer didn't find them 1st ) optimus would most deff be against cloning. the cons though I think already clone with all the vehicons

Fowler doesn't tell his superiors everything (Grill episode). Fowler is more sympathetic to the Autobots than when the series started, and they've "saved his bacon" several times. He said he owes them.

In the second Bumble episode he could have let the Autobots take what they wanted and told the government it was another Mech clean scrub. In Loose Cannons he could have let the Autobots groundbridge Dreadwing's ship to another location and then tell the government it was destroyed during the explosion.

Pretty sure the Autobots don't know about the Harbringer's protoforms, and as for Nemesis Prime and MECH- they're not /that/ horribly off that they need to do that. They have the (slightly iffy) support of one of the richest nations on the planet- they can request stuff that they need.

Then why don't they. Ratchet has voiced his frustration with the outdated earth tech. The Decepticons steal what they need from the military/government. The Autobots haven't gained anything. The Decepticons have gained an equal amount of relics and added the Insecticons and Dreadwing (to replace Breakdown). Autobots added Wheeljack, but now Bulkhead is injured.

I know they are the heroic underdogs, but that doen't mean they can't gain some technology and add new Autobots. They would still be "vastly outnumbered" and facing an enemy with more resources and weapons.

It's because of this Optimus's stupid refusal to allow the humans to get involved. As Split Lip said in a post a while back, this version of Op lives in a fantasy land where the humans don't get involved in the defense of their own planet.

If I were writing this, the relationship between the U.S. and the Autobots would be explored, with the logistical aid that the U.S. provides emphasized. Also, the old D&D maxim of "kill them and take their shit" would be the Autobot's core maxim, as applied to the Decepticons.

You know, this is really a problem in hero trope stories in general. They seem to believe that there is an inherent evil to a villian's gadgets that makes their use for even the most benign uses unforgiveable. (see also; "Ironman armored adventures"). It seems wierd to make the distinction of "Our guns that kill are just fine, but a Decepticon force field generator is too destructive".

Optimus Prime is a short-sighted idiot in this show. I'm sure if he'd try and use one of those things he'd just smash it with his fist, or eat it.
