Question why wasn't there a g1 Arcee figure ever brought out at the time when transformers was in the kids eyes.?
I would have wanted her. Still do; I don't think young kids assign colors/symbols to complex things like gender identity at that age. That's an older kid/adult thing. The character's pink; the toy's pink. If you like the character, you'll like the toy..
IMHO Both of these would have sucked. Flicking through my Generations Book, to this day it's still hard to believe that HasTak never produced a G1 Arcee in 86/87 with her own unique mold. She was a major character in S3 but she never had a G1 figure? *shakes head*
I don't think being pink would've put any boys off the figure. Just look at G1 Snaptrap. It being a female character might've. But then I'm sure she'd have just ended up being the girl Transformer that the boy Transformers saved while playing and still made it into many TF collections back then. I know I wanted an Arcee figure back then. Probably more for completion's sake than anything else though. That and I'm sure there were female TF fans back in the old movie days that would've wanted her.
This! the seacons showed pink wasn't an issue for hasbro. I agree it was the female aspect more than anything else. I would have wanted one.
I would snap that orange and pink Arcee up in a heartbeat if it actually transformed. Granted, I AM a collector, and not part of the age group that these toys are actually aimed at.
I would have. It bothered me to no end that Arcee, a major character; didn't get a figure. Plus, this proto isn't that bad when you put it next to the other movie toys.
its a girl and pink. Even today with grown up collectors they have trouble selling its a girl and pink. Possibly a reason why TF rime Arcee is now Blue.
