Hey guys, I tried searching for the old Aquarion threads but no luck. I'm gonna buy one later this week but I need some advice. I know there are several versions out there. Some have extra accessories. There's lots of the military-themed ones on ebay and everywhere else. Decent prices and I like the cohesive colour scheme. I'm having trouble finding the other red/green/blue one. Does the military coloured one come with the swords and stand?
I was wondering this too. There's a newer version that stands or combines better than the first ones? Is that the military one?
I'm not sure, but I have always seen the RGB ones on ebay a plenty. I have read reviews, and most people liked the RGB ones better. I have no idea if this has anything to do with what you wanted to know. *edit* I don't mean to go off topic, but is this anime any good?
I don't own either, but keep researching them because they look absolutely fantastic. As far as I've been able to determine, the red, blue, green set comes with a bunch of swords, and the darker repaint, who I assume you're refering to as the military group, come with a bunch of guns. I've never seen the RGB set with the guns, nor the darker paint scheme with the swords. I believe there was a massive remold on the darker set as well, as they have some different modes as well as cohesive inclusion of the guns in their non-mecha modes.
Kind of. It takes a very long time for the story to start developing after the first episode, its mostly just a bunch of random, pointless excuses for battles. it has some very good moments, but some very bad moments, like the orgasms. thats right. when merging the individual vehicles, the pilots make orgasmic sounds, talking about how good it feels (there's a spiritual connection involved). one girl with glasses has a habit of getting REALLY EXCITED during these situations, where we're treated to images of her heart beating extremely fast, gasping for breath, and then things explode. could they make it a bit more obvious what just happened? no, I dont think so. and then when she pilots the aquarion, it happens again, but escalates into something you have NEVER seen in a giant robot anime before, and will never see again outside of this series. The aquarion leans down, clenches it's legs together and more.. "special" sounds are heard from the pilot. in case I'm not being obvious enough: you essentially see a giant robot climax. I didnt watch the series for a while after this episode, and when I eventually went back to it, it was only to collect and assemble all these "special" clips together into a hilarious video. another ******ed moment is the entire episode about how much more effective one pilot is when his shoes are off. I WILL say though, this series has some awesome battle scenes in full CG, that are very, very intense. it's also got one of the best soundtracks I've heard in an anime in about a decade.
I was just saying to my roommate...while that thingt is far more impressive than Masterpiece Starscream....Starscream is still a cooler toy becaus eof the character. Hm, giant robot just losing it...oh yeah, THAT'S personality.
in case anyone doubts what I said, or just HAS to see it for themselves... http://youtube.com/watch?v=1HsA3oF7K5w aquarion combining, 2 female pilots make "special sounds", and we get a closeup of the glasses girl's heart, followed by more moaning.
I thought the anime was pretty good. I used to have the Assault Aquarion but sold it after a few weeks. BTW. That version only comes with a few guns yet the stand wasn't changed from the normal version.
So which is the higher quality mech? Swords are nice, but if the Assault version was remolded to be more sturdy I'll definitely get that one.
The Force Attack and the regular version both are about the same sturdiness. The force attack is the training version and was remolded and comes with the guns. The first version is the regular TV one, and comes with the arrows and swords. I have one and think it is a fantastic toy. It is about as intricate as any transforming robot I own.
Some good galleries: http://www.geocities.jp/hetare_d_max/gallery-DX_Aquarion.html http://members9.tsukaeru.net/ty1_toys/toys/DX_Aquarion01.htm http://zoids2003.hp.infoseek.co.jp/TOYS/robo/DXaquarion.html First link, fifth row are the clips you're probably talking about, but those are for Vector Mars and Vector Luna in their ship modes.
Why did I look at those galleries? I already know how hard I have to fight myself to keep from splurging on them. Those swords. The different combination modes. And the tennis shoe looking feet. I know I'll cave some day. But I need to hold out until I have a few more bills covered.
How are the joints/durability on the Aquarion? Is it uber delicate or reletively sturdy (for a mech of it's complexity) and are the joints ratcheting?
