Is the Michael Bay interview basically the one that Alvarez did a few weeks back?

    After a quick perusal:

    - A very mean April Fools prank in the first paragraph. *shakes fist*

    - I know I've read the Michael Bay interview before... I think it was up on the club forums. Good, though.

    - Nothing new info or picture-wise from Toyfare, unfortunately.

    - Mini-Mayhem comic - don't get it, some kind of TF/Spiderman/SW crossover joke?

    - Lil Formers - great, as always.

    - Minicon profiles - terrific, Nightscream & Nightcruz = Nightcreeper.

    - Maxcops part 2 - awesome, love to eventually see figures for these guys; if not, more subgroup/team profiles like this.

    - Astrotrain & Skywarp profiles are very well written, lots of history and details.

    - Airrazor story is good, covers her reactivation and first battle in the Beast Wars, leaves off at a cliffhanger.

    - Classics comic story is great, feels like it's really leading up to something HUGE!

EDIT: Also, the intro page of the magazine talks about the convention brochure and registration forms as if they are already available, which a quick visit to Botcon.com confirms they are NOT. To me, that seems to indicate they plan to have those available very shortly.

Got mine today, as well. Seems that Don Figueroa, who drew the art for the cover of this magazine, will also be doing the art for the Botcon box set this year as well!

Hot damn! Best news I've heard all day.

I've not been a fan of the stiff poses and odd faces on the last two years' art.

I'd consider buying the set just for Don's art. If they are indeed based on the Classics line molds, you can consider it done.

Sorry to drag this up from the depths, but the magazine is finally arriving in the UK.

I joined the Club in February, still haven't gotten my issue. Does the new figure come with the issue, or separately?

I believe if you were signed up prior to March, you will get the figure. They're scheduled to ship in May, if I remember correctly.

Not sure about the cutoff for receiving the mags, though.

Hrm. You've got me beat this time, as mine still hasn't shown up. Today's the 11th, the supposed "at the latest" date for US club members. If I don't get it today, I may be e-mailing FP tomorrow....

I have been a little bit disappointed in the club magazine lately, and reading this issue I finally put my finger on the reason. It has become entirely too focused on the fiction aspect of the hobby to the neglect of other things. I was always a big proponent of the newsletter/magazine, because I liked how it was an nice mix of news, exclusive first images of upcoming toys, toy reviews, in depth articles on vintage collecting (e.g., the article series on G1 pack-ins), along with a comic.

Now I feel like it veers way too much into the fiction. In the current issue we've got the comic, a text story, profiles for Classics, profiles for Max-Cops, profiles for Minicons, an interview about the movie...it's just too much of one thing for me. I'd like to see some more variety in upcoming issues.
