Regardless of how Apple spins it, this amounts to official support for Windows on Macs. Oh, the irony is palpable.

This makes me happy. I'll be able to check my websites in Windows Internet Explorer myself to assure they look right, instead of continuously asking a PC friend, "K, what does it look like now?" while trying to correct display issues.

Now if Apple would just sell a stand alone edition of their OS I would be verry happy. I would love to put Apple on my PC (Yes I do know about the leaked Apple OSX stuff, but i will not use it).

Schiller then added, "We just wish they wouldn't express this interest by continuing to purchase highly customizable PC's."

And I still ask why I would want to pay more for a Mac to run XP when a PC is som much less expesive.

Well hell, I'm sold. Most of the office here is Mac-based, and my rig's been having compatability issues since day one.

    So their plan worked.

It's funny because allot of ppl who bash Macs are the same ppl that rarely, if ever, use Macs. I for one was a PC basher for the longest time until we got them at work. I still prefer my Mac over my work PC but I do have a better understanding on the flaws of each.

As for the cost of Macs over PC. That's simple IBM whored out the their computer and Apple didn't. Everyone and their mother can make a PC so of course the price will be cheaper. Macs did that years ago but Mac users wanted a Mac not a clone.

To the topic at hand. I'm not surprised to see something like this happen. I knew it would the second I heard Macs were going to use Intel chip. More power to them.

Wrong. IBM fought cloning efforts tooth and nail. Compaq got away with it because they legally reverse-engineered the PC's BIOS, and other companies soon followed suit, but IBM itself wanted to maintain a proprietary grip as much as Apple and Commodore. No "whoring" involved.

I saw this on the huge ass screen when I was walking to site today down at Canary Wharf.

I almost burst out in laughter.

My bad. So now could you imagine how things would have been then had IBM kept the cloning from happening?

What would have happened is that the PC would not have gained near the ground that it has. Compaq was the first from what I remember to beginn making PC parts and thus came the PC compatible age. If Mac would have allowed others to "clone" thier parts then the Mac would be far ahead of what it is today. I might even like Macs if that would have happened. Hell, Bill Gates might not even be where he is today if Mac would have allowed cloning.
