Doesn't this pop up every few years?
Hmmm, in many ways, that article just seems like speculation and rumor mill. The only vaguely factual thing is that the writer heard something about Apple possibly maybe having sort of a video game division. While I admit, the Wii and the DS Lite both seem to ooze pure Apple style, that doesn't prove anything. And, furthermore, the writer needs to remember that Nintendo is not the number three console maker in the US, it is, while smaller than Microsoft and Sony as a whole, easily larger than either of their video game divisions. Furthermore, adding PC titles to the Mac, even if they are Nintendo PC titles, does not make it a console. Just as, in the case of the PS3, running movies, tunes, and photos does not make a console a home computer.
All in all, I wouldn't hold my breath until Apple or Nintendo releases hard news.
God I hope not, leave Nintendo alone.
God, I hope that never happens. The day I see Steve Jobs show off new Nintendo stuff is the day I quit buying Nintendo.
Thankfully, I dont ever think this will happen. Nintendo is a Japanese company, and I dont think the Japanese would be too keen on the idea of a forign company buying out one of their own.
totally fake. nintendo isnt for sale, and never will be.
Not even a sliver of a chance. Microsoft has already tried to buy Nintendo in recent years. If Microsoft can't buy them, no way in Hell could Apple.
Uhhh... doesn't Microsoft own part of Apple?
If Apple did buy Nintendo would that mean Nintendo owners would have to start putting Nintendo logo stickers in there car windows?
Hmm, heard this same rumor a couple of years back. Wasn't true then, hope it's still not true now. Let Nintendo be Nintendo.
Well, considering the iPod is a piece of crap, and I haven't always been fond of Nintendo, this would just be a match made in heaven for someone like me!
And it DOES explain the appearance of the DS Lite.
Apple has been a heavy influence in the style of electronics. There are many companies that use the clean and simple design that apple made popular.
That story is grasping at straws. I can only see it happening if the Wii does poorly and nintendo drops out of the console business. Then, and only then, will we see a potential merger in making Nintendo's handheld market even stronger by partnering with apple to make an ipod/gameboy type hybrid, or with palm to make a pda/ds hybrid.
i heard otherwise, i heard (or made up) it was actually NINTENDO trying to buy APPLE....
While impossible, the idea of a DS/iPod hybrid does sound VERY cool.
Yeah? I heard it was Kickback trying to buy both Apple AND Nintendo!
No, I'm sure that Microsoft owns like 10% of Apple and helps them stay in business.
What was that movie about it... it had the guy from ER and the guy from Weird Science and they played Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and at the end it said that Apple was partially owned now by Microsoft. Unless things have changed since that movie came out.
I think that Bill Gates has a stake in apple, and perhaps sits on the board at apple. I'm too lazy to google it though.
