I'd just like to say I haven't been diagnosed with a damned thing and I got problems like anyone else.
Major Props to Goaliebot for coming out about his family and how his son suffers from Asbergers. Bryan, I hope that, if you are not trolling for a good laugh, that you truly find some inner sense of control. Talk to therapists. If it does have something to do with anger, or PTSD, try something constructive like punching a bag or going for a run. Expel all the negative energy on some inanimate so that it doesn't come out at someone you love AKA your wife.
Oh fer Christ's sake lol http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/general-discussion/443599-buying-dog-4.html#post6461815
Oh yeah, I got this all cleared up. Turned out the second psychologist wasn't even licensed yet, she can't make definitive diagnoses. She basically waived her intern year to deploy, and was supposed to be practicing under supervision. But there was some confusion so it didn't end up working out like that. Anyways, she didn't call attention to it, which is a big screwup, like pushing meds without a license. She had no prior service, just pretty full of herself. So I saw some psychiatrist who was a former artillery officer, he was legit. We basically agreed the original issue only came up because I was interacting with someone unaccustomed to how my part of the Army (the real part) does business. He encouraged me to take anger management classes for appearance's sake, but I'm full RTD. My bosses (my real bosses, the other one outranked me but isn't in my unit) are pretty pumped about it, they love me. GET SOME. EDIT: full RTD = return to duty, ie, I have no medical diagnoses at all and therefore no medical restrictions.
Mental Health in the military = Fail. It would be an epic story if you did have Asbergers and you were able to join the military and be deployed to Iraq. You could change the name of your dorm to the "rainman suite".
Glad to hear you can keep your job. I hope this person didn't misdiagnose many others, who just accepted it. I mean, there may be other people out there right now who think they have Asperger's, but really don't.
It's all good. I mean the last I heard, Asperger's wasn't even real, so the fact that he doesn't have it shouldn't surprise anyone. (hopefully somebody finds the joke without senselessly flaming me)
I was worried there for a second. I thought for sure that you had forgotten that a psychologist's job is to diagnose with you something and give you some pills for it and then enjoy the kickback that they get from the drug company that's providing the pills. I mean, that's how the medical system works for that kind of stuff, right? You thought you had Asperger's because you wanted to nail the chick.
