Now, seriously. I typed in "apelinq" into Google.

    http://www.google.com/search?q=apelinq

The fifth result is TFU.info. The bio even comes up as the abstract text. It's really handed on a silver plate.

This has nothing to do with "not knowing where to look". This has something to do with "starting a thread before even looking".

I said it before - I don't have anything against asking questions someone doesn't know the answer to. I don't even mind answering questions. I like challenging questions that require me to actually do some research and working details into a logical order.

But when I can type a single keyword into Google and get the desired answer on the first page of results, I feel cheated. It's like asking someone "can you tell me what time it is?" in front of a giant clocktower.

And if you talk to people who do that the way you do on here, I'd be amazed if you haven't been twatted in the head at least once.
    Chill.

My response in said clock situations is, 'Yes.' As in, 'Do you know what time it is?'
'Yes.' Sometimes I'll add, 'Because I can see that giant clock behind me.' It shows people the information they know, and also lets them know where to find it next time. OK, I get a slighlty smug feeling out of pointing out the obvious as well. And when it happens to me...I take it like a man.

Yeah, the problem here might be that the man in question thought the characters name was apeling. lets try that.

    http://www.google.com/search?q=apeling

why look! not TFU entry on that search page! I wonder why?

Nevermore, just because you hold all the cards and are some all knowing man of mystery around here doesn't give you license to be a prick. You act like this guy was wasting your time, when really you had the option of NOT responding at letting one of the kinder gentler forum members take care of it.

You're not god's gift to 2005. I think we all appreciate the info and research you've posted here, but you're by no means obligated to respond to every question and it certainly doesn't mean you can be a douchebag when its an easy question.

would just like to throw in - i'm likely to be more of a smartass to my close buddies than to a stranger... in fact.. i'm completely unlikely to be a smartass to a total stranger, IRL or OL... i'd at least have to have known him/her in either setting for awhile before i felt comfortable poking at them.
That being said, I don't know how long the two of you have known each other, but i'm willing to speculate that it's not long or nil, being the way he reacted to you. :)

Not that you need any lecture from me, a bozo you don't know... just wanted to throw my two cents in.

Isn't the point of having a fan site with message boards to have topically based discussions? If so, then why admonish someone for attempting to start one?

Politeness goes a long ways, and is a two way street. In other words it would be a lot safer to drive with less jackasses on the road.
