Now I can't wait for their article in December or January titled "Transformers Writers in Talks to pen Transformers 2!"

Seriously, what is the AP doing, sitting asleep at the wheel?!?
This is at least 5 month old news, as it was (sort of) covered here on May 09, 2007:
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270874,00.html
This was apparently before it was decided to be a full TV series, and only slated for two "episodes", but still, the basis was still the same.

Yeah, it's just that they tried to pass it as new news, went so far as to mention the LA Times twice, and not once mention the fact that Friedman covered it over five months ago.

To most of the news reading public, this probably is "news". You have to remember that Star Wars geeks make up a very small amount of the worlds population.

Probably went down something like this.

"Bob, I got bad news. Neither Paris, Britney or Lindsey were arrested or entered rehab yesterday."
"Crap what are we gonna due?"
"Well, I do have some 5 month old Star Wars news that only a bunch of nerds know about"
    "RUN WITH IT!!!"

It's already been said, but I'll try to sum up.

    1. It's a slow news day.

    2. Most people aren't Star Wars geeks.

    3. The LA Times interviewed him on Tuesday. That was yesterday. And he confirmed yesterday that he just started working (in earnest?) on it.

With threads like this, it must definitely be a slow day. :p

Does anyone else not care that GL is going to kill the Star Wars franchise with this TV show? I mean episodes 1 - 3 were bad enough movies but now he will wreck the best sci-fi universe on a weekly basis???

    Whoa. Slow down, there.

Isaac Asimov wants a word with you. So does Frank Herbert--well, you and his son.

Today's Final Jeopardy category...science fiction. The answer is:

This science fiction trilogy was expanded and retconned into oblivion long before Star Wars.

    "What is Foundation?"

If you enjoy science fiction, then I can't recommend "Dune" and the original Foundation trilogy strongly enough.

Do the right thing and hit the library up this week.

Word. Not only where his prequels pretty rough--really undoing the mythology of Hari Seldon, in my opinion--the subsequent "authorized by the estate of" novels didn't deserve to be read.

While I like the whole exploring the others comment about the SW universe in this series, it just seems a little too drastic to so completely cut out the Skywalkers from this series. I mean, it's been mentioned that this will all take place inbetween episodes 3 and 4 so how evil of an Empire can you have, without the threat of Vader poping up to ruin your day?

Save this sidestory BS that no one but 28 SW geeks who read Dark Hourse Comics care two craps about and give us the building of the Empire and the Rebellion. You could do a hundred one hour episodes just on those two topics alone, and tie the two trillogies together all nice and neat.

Wait, whoa, hold up.... What is this "library" you speak of? :)

Amen, brother, amen. Big George claims there will be "cameos" from other SW chars, but who really cares for the Max Rebo band? To make this show work and to get the average SW fan hooked they need some major SW chars shown every week, like a Vader or every fanboys dream Boba Fett.

As far as I'm personally concerned, Lucas did that the second the words "Midichlorians" and "Jar-Jar" entered his head. I haven't bought a single thing SW related since I saw The Phantom Plotline.

    No Han Solo=FAIL.

It's not his presence in and of itself that makes the original triligy tolerable, but he makes a good bellwether.
