I was chatting on AIM and saw a little ad about getting a free AOL email account, and then there was a Netzero ad on the radio about the same thing, and transferring and all that. Anywho...

I decided to look into it, and oddly enough AOL has take 98% of their pay-for services and made them absolutely free to the entire 'net using public.

(How they'll keep revenue at this point is beyond me, but okay.)
In my readings, I found a program that's called AOL Open Ride...and it has blown me away.

    A browser with tabs.
    Email handler (like Outlook Express).
    AIM Triton.
Media Player (which can access your own files, or give you access to online media.)
    XM Radio.

And yes, it's all free. You can even log in on an AIM screen name. (Though some features will be disabled.)

Well hell, I'll shut up and let the program speak for itself....

Notice the little blue sphere in the middle? Grab it with the mouse, and drag it in any direction you wish, so you can make any of the 4 panels full screened and still have access to other panes!

There's gotta be a catch, but I've yet to find one, and I scoured it.

I think the catch is that it's made by AOL. The name ALONE ensures it will never go anywhere near my computer.

    IE 7 or Firefox

    Or use Outlook, or Thunderbird

Aim Triton blows. Beyond blows. Go with classic AIM.

    Windows Media Player

Yeah, but XM sucks :p . I've got my Sirius Radio, and the ability to stream the channels on the internet (Like I'm doing now, listening to the Howard Stern Show on Howard 100)

I can log onto AIM with no features disabled :p

All in all, I don't really see the point of it. But if you like it, more power to you.

hmm..I'm interested in the XM radio as I don't have Sirius or any other type of sat. radio. As for the rest, eh.

    Agree with everything Devz said.

Especially the part about AIM Triton (which you can get for free as a stand-alone product, btw). It's an absolutely terrible program.

    Aim 5.x for the win.
