Because of their organic look, do you think AOE Dinobots a good stand in for Classics Dinobots?
They're more metal plated than organic.
No Not anymore then other movie characters being the stand in for a Classics collection.
So far yes, Scorn is blending in quite well.
Considering these guys are getting G1 repaints down the line, I'd suggest holding out for them if you're looking for Classics stand-ins.
That said, while I do like what the movie Dinobots are doing, I'm not 100% convinced they'd work in a Classics display. Maybe if I saw them in G1 colors as a group, it'd click.
I plan on repainting Slag and Scorn, Slag however is getting a new head, but I don't feel Scorn requires one.
Nope. The movie aesthetic is plainly there to see. Plus, there's already some pretty damn good Classics Dinobots out there...the FoC ones. Voyager Grimlock with upgrades and the 3P FoC Swoop. Blocky designs that invoke the look and feel of G1, yet modernized. That is the textbook definition of the "Classics" aesthetic.
If someone thinks they could stand in, more power to 'em, but to me they fit in as Classics Dinobots about as well as Animated (name here) fits in as a Classics (name here)
Now fitting in with Beast Machines ... I could kinda see that.
Id love to have FOC dinobots, but it seems takara isnt interested in them and 3 p is too much to pay. Hopefully hasbro comes out with g1 repaints, but im still not sure id get them. After seeing slog and snarl, these guys have moved up on my want list; even scorn.
That would be an emphatic no
If Has/Tak decides on a G1 redeco for all of them...l'd grab them...only thing that really bugs me is the Ptwo headed Swoop/Strafe but what's the chance of Has/Tak doing "ALL FIVE" Dinos in the same aesthetic again...l suppose l could look at their armored up look as a failed Wheeljack experiment... ...but yeah a G1 decoed set would be hard to pass on if offered at retail...but l also consider my collection a "neo-G1" collection as opposed to a "Classics" or "CHUG" one...
No I don't think so imho. They are not "Blocky" enough, but hey, to each their own.
Not to use as stand ins for the actual CHUG Dinobots, no, not in my opinion.... but they will go with my Classics collection as new characters in and of themselves. Most have different names from the classic Dinobots already. The main thing that makes them able to be in the same aesthetic universe (in my collection anyway) is the fact that the deluxe movie dino guys have faces that don't look like a pile of broken razor blades, AND they have hands that look like hands for the most part. CHUG collection as the Dinobots, NO, but as bots that turn into dinos, in my CHUG universe...YES. Put em where you want, bud and don't stress the small stuff.
No. Absolutely no. Classics Dinobots would be G1 styled. These are movie verse Dinobays. Ew.
Nope not even a little bit they would be more like that Transtech stuff that never happened.
They would have to be themed like the FOC Grimlock to be Classics.
Yeah, the idea sounds ridiculous to me. But I guess it depends what "Classics" means to the individual. If it means "updated looks for G1 characters," then no. But if Classics means "any old random bullshit," then maybe, I guess?
These Dinobots would have torn Devastator apart in the '86 movie.
I'm not so sure if Grimlock fits in but the Deluxe Dinbots look quite good in the Classics line up.
Separate names with a comma.
