I've read about this in The Economist, but it was sorta my understanding it was a little bit of a joke...like the songs are fun, but nobody expects quality?

 

normally but some of the songs tend to be brilliant but signed bands aren't allowed and thanks to Simon Cowell every good band in the UK get signed
