I have noticed that the new robots in disguise/revealer figures on pre-order made by takara are a lot less than the first edition figures were for pre-order.

Deluxes are pre-selling for $20 each except for US based stores.

So may this indicate they may not be any different other than the extra microns? Or am I over thinking this?

So far the hasbro RID figures paint jobs don't thrill me and i'm hoping for Takara to come through.

We've been hearing rumors of that. Plus some extra stickers. We'll see.

The Hasbro RID paints jobs don't bother me. I'm more looking forward to what Takara is planning paint-wise for Generations.

Probably the same paint with some foil stickers. And no weapons included so far, instead they opt for unpainted, unnasembled minicons that transform into guns.

Takara are so hell bent on reducing costs these days, it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

I honestly don't know, but if they don't, I won't care. I'm getting the Arms Micron versions because I really want those cool minicons.

please stop calling it RID - that is an acronym for a 10 year old incarnation of transformers, and has nothing to do with the figures you are talking about.

Except for the fact that it's the official name of this line. And the only other use is a line from ten years ago, which means that there's very little potential for confusion. What would you suggest? Just Prime figures? Because that could be describing either the Cyberverse figures, the First Edition figures, or the Robots in Disguise figures.

Why would they leave the microns unpainted?

Won't they look kind of cruddy or out of place without paint

I really hope they do give the figures nice paint apps, or at least use more accurate colors for the plastics used.

Particularly in the case of Arcee....i don't want to be forced into getting the overly bright Arcee from hasbro. I am not fond of painting TFs.

Yeah I can deal with the backpack, but that color is just too far off. Show-accurate pink highlights would go a long way as well. Ratchet is just too small, to the point that not even red squiggles will be enough to make me want him. My biggest hope though is that Takara does something, anything, with the voyager Megatron. That dull gray plastic is just blah.

While I agree with you, this is pretty much Hasbro's fault. Then again, "Robots in Disguise" has been the tagline for over 25 years.

I'm hoping Voyager Megs (whether it's the Megs due in March or a different one than that one that comes out later) gets the metallic silver deco the Hasbro one is lacking.

I'm assuming within the next couple of weeks that we'll see scans from the toy magazines in Japan appear and finally see what will or won't be different about the decos of the Arms Micron Prime toys, plus whether the minicons are painted or not.

As do I, but just look at Deluxe Sideswipe, HA Soundwave, and Deluxe Soundwave... Who knows what's going to happen... I bought paint last night(I FORGOT PURPLE! :banghead: ) because I'm not sure what the Takara release is going to look like.

Yea, I preordered the Takara Megs the minute it was up ONBBTS. Price was around 60 USD. Afew days went by and the price fell to 30. So I assumed its the dlx mold again..

I can canceled it. Hope it WASNT the voy mold...

But I (and many others) want a better Megatron.

He's so close. But so far...

Unpainted microns are okay. Most of the microns we get are unpainted. The ones they used for PCC were unpainted but turned out well molded in the gray and dark grey.

And, should we call it RID 2.0? :p
