I pulled out my copies of Disc 1 and stunt this morning and had totally forgotten what a great band they are. Do any of you canadian guys know if they are still about ?? you dont really hear anything about them here in the uk as all we ever got was 1 week and its all been done before
I've seen them live four times. The last time was at Live 8, but I know they're still touring and recording. The bridge of If I had a Million Dollars gets longer every time they play it.
They are still around. I've been a fan of there's since the YELLOW TAPE in 1989. There last album cam out either late last year or early this year. I bought it and wasnt so big on it. I personally think they lost the fun they use to have in the music. My favorite albums are still Gordon and Maybe You Should Drive. Thanx Transbot90210
There is never anything wrong with Barenaked Ladies. Oh, wait- you mean the band??? well, they're OK too.
hey if you guys can help me out, a local station i listen to back in the day would play this medley by BNL - i think that time they were supposed to end the band of summat, but i cant for the life of me remember what it was. this was before 2000? i youtubed million dollars, that aint it. edit: aha found it yay
Not a massive fan, but I heard a song called "Shoebox" on some compilation album years ago. I like that one...
Aw, I was going to swoop in and save the day. I taped this video from Much back in the day. The really funny thing is that when they made the montage they didn't redo the closed captioning, so it keeps jumping around to lines from different songs.
BNL was (is) a great band. They are great musicians that make good music, but still have a lot of fun. I would have loved to see them live... This clip is pretty funny too: Ed cracks up
still like then. My two favorite songs by them are Brian Wilson and Alcohol. I would like to see them live. From what I have seen on youtube, it seems like their concerts they put on are like what BBVD does. They also put on a great live show.
I love their music.... was big into them when "One Week" was a hit, then in college I got back into them....
If by "still" you mean "ever," then no. Back in high school I had an art class with some dick who kept playing two damn songs on the radio: Barenaked Ladies' "One Week" and some Spice Girls knock-off singing about the alphabet. I've hated BNL ever since (and would hate the other band if they had actually amounted to anything).
I kinda miss them- they made music fun again. I really only heard what local radio played: Pinch Me One Week If I Had a Million Dollars but my personal favorite will always be Brian Wilson. i still cry listening to that one. i listen to it when sad or get into my introverted spells. but still, a great group. Wish Canada would export more Rush, BNL and girls (have a few close female friends who make me wish i could be canadian so i could say I am proud to be a canadian...sigh) and deport Celine Dion, lol.
Still my favorite band. Saw them play last year at Radio City and it was a blast. They still have albums released on a regular basis - their last two came out end of 2006/early 2007 - Barenaked Ladies Are Me and Barenaked Ladies Are Men. More recently they released a live DVD and CD of this tour. And, if I may add, I loved them a few years before One Week, and was utterly amazed to see them ever get that sort of notoriety.
