I left home at 18 for College (Girls mainly:D ) and never had the opportunity to live at home again. I'm 28 now and have no interest in returning home but I sure do miss her food.......

My Mother could cook her butt off, amazing food.... I might be in the minority here but even as a child, mom's burgers punched McD's crap in the face!:D

Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Chicken Fried Steak, BBQ..... and the list goes on!  We never had to eat out because her food was better than any restaurant brought breakfast/lunch/dinner in my opinion.

Sorry, we ate lunch today and it just reminded me of how awesome her cooking is:cry !

I'm a better cook than my mom ever was, but I can relate, because I moved from Texas to California and there are some specific restaurants that call to me in my dreams...

I'm with Hobbes. My Dad is a Head Chef, so he hardly ever cooked at home- why bring work home, right? So my Mom was always the one who cooked. And she's more of the mind that food is food and as long as it gets the job done, it's good. Substance over flavor.

Also, they own a catering company, so I was fending for myself on the weekends. Everything I needed was in the fridge or the pantry. I just Iron Chef'd it up myself.

I'll look for them, but I've cooked up some epic meals for myself. So proud of them I took pictures. Haha

    Edit: Found them.

My mother thinks pouring cereal is a home-cooked meal.

I spent a year in culinary school before moving in an attempt to further my education.

    So... no.

Mom and dad only cooked enough to feed us when I was young and lived at home but left home at 17 and friends mom cooked for years and GFs along the way and then the current GF cooks and I cook abit sometimes from what I was taught in resturants and cooking at home. So I'd say no parents are not that good of cooks.

My mom's cooking could have gotten our home's kichen closed by the board of health and my sister and I pulled from the house by Child Protective Services...I don't miss it :p

Ever since Mom was diognosed with breast cancer, her health and energy level went downhill. She passed away three years ago and we miss her very much. Her cooking was awesome and during the holidays she made the damn best home made pecan pies. Nobody else in the family can duplicate her pies even with the same exact recipiecs.
Also, she made the dqmn best omlets as well. We called them momlets.

In my case, mom was a junky in her young life and a self obsessed boomer divorcee afterward, so the entire idea of good old american home cookin somewhere went astray. She made crappy low calorie food with all the flavor boiled or grilled out of it. Count yourself lucky, dude.

Yeah same here.Although I do miss my grandmothers cooking but pretty much learned how to cook everything she made and I'd rather cook for myself then deal with my mother anyways.

My parents worked all day when I was growing, we never had home cooked meals. I went around the corner to the pizza place, or my mom would bring home McDonalds.
