Well, the AFA population report is finally up to date. For people that don't know what I'm talking about, the population report is a search system that you can use to find out how many of a figure have been graded and at what overall grade. You can access it through the "Resources" section of AFA's web site. Anyway, it hadn't been updated in a year, and they just updated it today. Holy crap at the number of graded Jazzes and Mirages...
*adjusts tinfoil hat for optimal deflection* Clearly the Mirages are all bootlegs as AFA purposely grades them as originals to increase business. Seriously though, where'd they all come from? Is this a proportional increase to the overall Transformers AFA population (compared to the previous report)?
It's a little over twice the number of most of the other 84 Autobot Cars (85 Jazzes and 94 Mirages compared to Sunstreaker: 37, Ratchet: 31 total, Wheeljack: 42 total, Sideswipe: 28 total, Prowl: 39, Bluestreak: 33, Trailbreaker: 35). The increase is because of the recent dead stock finds. I knew there were a lot, but I didn't realize there were this many.
Wonder how many of the Mirages are KO's? Wouldn't surprise me if a few were! Only one AFA Overlord? (Looks for snackdragon) No Bruticus giftsets, only one Scorponok. Whilst I'm not a fan of AFA, this is pretty interesting.
None. There were a lot of dead stock Mirages found. Really nice condition for the most part, too. I graded about 30 of them myself I think the reason you don't see them as often as graded Jazzes is that a lot of them are in the hands of a small number of people.
Here's something else funny--It looks like someone (Curt from TF Source?) graded a Justitoys WST gold Snarl prototype. Oh, and you can see Rabbid Squirrel's A.R.C. graded sample.
ha weird. I am in the process of grading my starscream collection. Would love to grade my alternators, I wish they made a standard box for alternators.
How does dead stock become found? Is it like the stories of an 1800 mile Hemi Cuda being found in an abandoned barn or something like that?
