My online buddy in Japan has found this metal (diecast?) Rodimus Convoy figure among a bagful of goodies he bought.

The figure is about 3.5cm (1.38 inch) tall, and on his back there is a 2mm (0.008 inch) wide hole and "TAKARA C-77" stamp.

Any help is greatly appreciated, we have no idea where he is from. Thank you for looking!

Wow, never seen that before. But it's awesome in itself, no matter what.

I think it's an old, really old die cast trading figure (sometimes with candy in it), I used to have a saint seiya diecast such as this long time ago

He looks similar to the little Diecast Super Jinrai (Powermaster Optimus Prime to those who don't know) that came with the Junior Super Jinrai. I've never seen this before or have heard of it, but it's a cool find. I hope I can find one too now that I know it exists.

I've never seen one like that. However, I have Metroplex and Super Ginrai though in that format.

Top right box, you can see the little die-cast figure in the box.

Thank you, that's awesome. (I clicked the link, too :D )
(And of course, I should have known Oro would have one!)

Thank you everyone for chiming in, I'm envious of anyone with jr. sets. I have heard of them, but didn't know they were from Seven. They look like great novelty (and expensive I assume...).

Funnily enough, they're such an outside novelty that, if you find them, they usually don't cost that much.
For example I had to wait over 3 years to find God Ginrai Jr. and Star Saber Jr., but they cost me 'only' ~50 USD each (Ok, while typing that I realize that it may be regarded as alot by somebody not looking for them for over 3 years...)

Hot Rod / Rodimus Prime expert Protoman here.

What you have is the diecast figure that came with the 1986 Transformers 2010 Watch set from Japan. It came packed with a small diecast Rodimus Convoy and Metroplex

Not to be confused with this

Rodimus Convoy Jr. packed with JUST Metroplex (Yes I have 2 of them)

Anything else you need to know about the chosen one? ^_^

Rodimus Convoy Jr. came with a die-cast Metroplex? That's... random.
Goes to show how little is documented around the Seven released stuff.

Great, thank you! I will let my buddy know :)

As for Rodimus Convoy, how about this one?
    TAKARA 1986 1987
    Rodimus Convoy

This belongs to another online friend of mine in Japan. He says he bought it at a toyshop in Kyushu in 1988. Ever heard of this cancelled product surfacing elsewhere?

    What a fitting topic for 2010 :D

I know what you mean. I've recently spent $30+ for a not-even-vintage Kabaya kit. Having been looking for that particular kit for a while I didn't hesitate to buy it, but I guess it might sound ridiculous. You can't even eat the gum packed with the kit! (It is almost 10 years old.)

Awesome. I didn't know why the line was cancelled. And (belated) congratulations :)
I consider myself very fortunate just to come across 2 people who own such unusual Rodimus Convoy!
