Not to be confused with that stupid reality show that stole it's name, this is a wickedly cool animated Sci-fi show from DIC with a whole variety of cool characters from BulletProof Vess to the sexy Nightshade (had a crush on her).

I watched this show all the time when i was 6/7 and loved it, i had the toys, comics and t-shirt to coloring books.

Who else thinks this show was influenced by Blade Runner?

It was a great show with awesome toys to match.

Here is decent webpage devoted to COPS

COPS HQ - The COPS N Crooks Reference Site

Incidently the recent(ish) GIJOE sigma 6 line was kinda similar to COPS in many ways.

I vaguely remember a fat bad guy and his dimwit nephew. Was Ms. Demeanor part of this too?

    ^ Yup.

I used to watch it, and still have the episode The Case of the Stuck Up Blimp on one of my old VHS tapes, along with some TF toy commercials. If I recall correctly, that episode was written by the late Carl Macek, a.k.a. the guy who was responsible for the production of ROBOTECH.

I remember it. The Longarm guy with the grappling hook thing and terrible pun of a name, an episode where the Kingpin-ripoff was all, "crime is fine, but drugs are bad" and one where the lead cop had to make a citizens' arrest.

Never thought about it being inspired by Blade Runner, but I could see it.

I remember it well and Cops is technically set in the future of the same universe as G.I.Joe , which makes it linked, even if just barely to G1.

Did you know Peter Chung who did Aeon Flux and other stuff co-made this show and designed it? i guess it was his gateway to his ultimate creation if you think about it.

It shares influences from Blade Runner like the futuristic city with police officers against criminals even cybernetic ones to BulletProof being sort of like Rick Deckard, the kind of badass futuristic officer that knows how to take a bite out of crime.

Who else thought Nightshade was quite sexy? i did when i was 7 and thought she was hot. She's kind of a futuristic version of either Elektra or Catwoman.
