i am a bumpkin. yep, i live in Cornfield county, next door to Hee-Haw and all those inbred yahoos.... seriously, i live in rural AL, and the cable provider here stopped 2 miles from my house and won't extend until a petition guaranteeing customers is turned in. so, either a phone line or Hughes Net for our Internet. Well, we were told about high speed, broadband...yada yada. until we used it. it wasn't until my mom complained when she couldn't download a file she bought that i did some reading and discovered the Fair Access Policy and a few other things. Problem is, that even when the most i do is read the news and check email, we still get shoddy DL rates. I was wondering if any others have had the same experiences with "satellite internet" service. i am moving soon, and can't wait to put down my money for honest to god cable modem connection speeds. out here in the sticks, satellite service is better than nothing....almost.
