Anyone feel the "reboot" hasn't actually been planned?

    Guess they should shut down, then.

    To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if IDW announced that they have lost the license.

    They need to leak something substantial, otherwise this looks like the end of the road.

    They've gotten bigger licences from more stringent companies over the past several months. There's really no reason to Chicken Little at the point. At least wait until Wednesday for the last issue of this continuity.

    You know, even if the first two didn’t phase me as much (and they don’t, really) the massive loan to keep operating - particularly at this late stage - does raise my eyebrows a bit.

    Oh well! Looking forward to the reboot since it’s theoretically still in the cards...

    Or they're just taking their time from it to do it right and give people time to recover from the last continuity, have a break to start feeling the dire need for TF comics, and to really build up the hype.

    After a second look I don't think that loan is a bad thing. It wasn't actually to cover day to day expenses, it was to finance the production of a tv series, which seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do if you've been contracted to make a tv show and don't have several million dollars laying around.

    I'm not really sure. The financial reports break the company down into three segments: IDW (which does comic books and games), IDW Entertainment (which does TV shows), and CTM (which does some kind of business advertising). The primary metric for each is its quarterly operating income (the difference between its revenue and its expenses). I think that's reasonable for comic books (every quarter they spend $x making them and bring in $y selling them) and probably for whatever services CTM provides, but I imagine the production of tv shows is much more irregular.

    Going back to Q2 2016 (which is where they split IDW Entertainment out of IDW), here's the operating income of each segment, the total operating income of the whole company, and its net income after taxes and interest payments and some other stuff are included:

    Code:
    |        | Q3 2018 | Q2 2018 | Q1 2018 | Q4 2017 | Q3 2017 | Q2 2017 | Q1 2017 | Q4 2016 | Q3 2016 | Q2 2016 |
    | ====== | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= |
    | IDW:   | -$ 801k | -$1394k | -$ 337k | -$ 460k | -$1100k | -$1562k | +$ 111k | +$1133k | +$ 367k | -$  28k |
    | IDW E: | -$ 746k | -$ 622k | +$ 968k | +$ 846k | +$ 341k | -$ 582k | +$ 686k | +$ 820k | +$ 528k | +$ 403k |
    | CTM:   | +$ 943k | -$ 967k | -$ 927k | +$ 815k | +$1055k | -$ 642k | -$ 506k | +$1275k | +$1722k | -$ 149k |
    | ====== | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= |
    | Total: | -$ 604k | -$2983k | -$ 296k | +$1201k | +$ 296k | -$2786k | +$ 291k | +$3228k | +$2617k | +$ 226k |
    | ====== | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= | ======= |
    | Net:   | -$ 461k | -$2226k | -$4488k | +$ 744k | +$ 143k | -$1813k | +$ 127k | +$1965k | +$1837k | -$  42k |

    So, idk. "IDW" isn't doing so well, I don't know if quarterly reports usefully represent the way TV deals work, and I don't care about CTM.

    My hope is that there is a series that ties into the next trilogy of toylines from Hasbro more closely. I hope that the artwork more closely resembles the characters and above all that Optimus Prime is written as the heroic character he should be and not the boring statue he became in the Optimus Prime comic (when he was in it at all). Finally, I'd like artwork that I don't have to guess at to understand what's going on (although I'm not hopeful there since the Siege toyline seems to be defined partly by its grittiness).

    For artists: I've really grown to enjoy Zama's art. I hope they choose her for the main line.

    I think the Siege tie-in rumors / brand alignment rumors have some water to them; Hasbro wanted to reboot IDW in the past to "align" with their current ventures, so maybe they finally are able to now.

    I might like Zama's art better if the panels were larger. As it is, I feel like I have to squint to see everything going on in each panel.

    There is no solid proof that IDW is keeping it is there?

    Other than the fact that both IDW and Hasbro have repeatedly said that IDW are keeping it? And the teasers for the 2019 reboot featured at the back of multiple recent issues?

    But what of the proof, man? What of the damn'd contract, ink'd in the blood of faerie folk and drafted on the hide tanned from unborn mermaid skin, washed with the tears of the wendigo, and baked o'er Promethus' coals? Surely we MUST SEE THAT over all else, for without FAN WITNESS AND HIVE MIND CONSENT IDW neither has nor deserves The License.

    Nothing wrong with this, as many people have said--but it is weird in the unending maw of the corporate quarter system we live in. Most major franchises are PRODUCT PRODUCT PRODUCT and so the comics must be serious loss leaders to put them on hold for 6 months or so.

    *reads newspaper* God I hope so

    I loved religious nut Star Saber, except for the lack of characterization he got. He turned out to be a real Boba Fett, with lots of cool posturing and very little actual substance, and he went out like a bitch. I would love to see a Circle of Light mini (or fanfic now, I guess) by Roberts.

    It could mean they still want to hire me

    Our revels now are ended. These our robots,
    As I foretold you, were all licensed, and
    Are repo'ed by Hasbro, into thin air:
    And like the baseless fanfic of the Webzors,
    The briefcase'd quantum, the queered-up robots,
    The tardy hand-thief, the Lost Light itself,
    Yea, all 'neath Unicron's eye, shall dissolve,
    And, like this interior ratchet joint abraded,
    To Goodwill is gone behind. We are such stuff
    As dreams are made on; and our Lost Light
    Goes darker with a sleep.

    Why not change this series story with a new but keeping unicron and the design style from the unicron issue

    I nominate Arcee as Caliban. Regardless, Shattered Glass Straxus approves.

    Even then, we're still getting Transformers comics from IDW. We have Star Trek vs. Transformers, the Transformers: Historia, the Bumblebee: Go for the Gold one-shot, etc.
