Just out of curiousity, have any of you TF customizers ever used parts from a Gundam model kit (yeah they can get pretty price out of the store but used ones on ebay seem somewhat reasonable) and if so what size seemed to suit your needs?

    thank you.

Most of us have. 1/100 is the grade to get for a voyager or leader class figure, and you have to be careful with those. If you get a 1/100 kit, it will have static hands. If you get a Master Grade kit the hands will have some movement.

For smaller figures like Scouts, look for 1/144 kits.

Unfortunately there aren't too many that work for Deluxes.

Aside from hands, the parts can be taken from any kit. However, it is worth noting that Gundam kits are more inclined to being posed rather played with, so their joints are weaker. They are used primarily for armour and weapons as a result.

Wow, thanx alot that was a lot of good info. Yeah, I have seen a Gundam gun that I thought would look well on some characters.

I used a 1/144 HG GN Archer for a custom Nightbird. Wasn't the first to do so either, and several others used the same mold for a custom Slipstream.

Gundams are always good for additional parts and pieces though. Not too keen on using their weapons for TFs personally, but many do.

YESSIR Kusanagi inspired me to make cybetronian Arcee using the same GNArcher Gundam model as a base.

Jarrod is noted for using them in his scratchbuilds, among the many others of us :)

I use parts from my old Gundams all over the place, and rarely for their initial purpose. I used to halves of a Gundam leg on my RotF Megatron arm, for example...

I used arms from a 1/100 Virsago on my Alternators Rumble, looked really good. Arms still popped off for easy storage, no less.
