I usually watch it, last night was the first one I missed in a while. This season really isn't doing much for me unfortunately.
I watched season 7 but that was it, not much of a Reality TV fan. I only watched it because I made a bet with my roommate about the winner. I was convinced that the "all american couple" they had was going to win as part of some political propaganda. I lost the bet, but I was happy that we haven't sunken that low yet as a society...besides, both of them were complete pieces of trash.
Could be...Last night was their worst leg yet. I hope that it is not the Blond 'dancer' and her boy friend...she annoys the hell out of me. Which team was that?
Normaly, I hate The Amazing Race, but I'm going to watch it next week just to see what happens to the blondes and the bus.
The team of the Iraq POW (who used that to every advantage and never shut up about it) and his Miss America fiance (who was a relentless bitch and stated that him being a POW was his way of not finishing what he started as an army man.)
It's the only reality show I watch right now (although, for some inexplicable reason, I keep finding myself watching American Idol). I think the final 3 teams will be the goths, the brother-sister who keep winning legs, and TK and Rachel (the so-called hippie and his girlfried who've only been dating a little while, but actually get along). As the most annoying couple got eliminated on the first leg, and there are no midgets with annoying cousins, I'll keep watching.
Amazing Race is one of only three shows that I actually bother watching any more, along with Iron Chef America and South Park. I've watched every Race except the fourth and fifth, when I didn't have TV, and enjoyed them all (except the Family Edition). I like that the contest relies on luck and skill, rather than the boring plotting and alliances that dominate shows like Survivor and Big Brother. This edition of the Race has been enjoyable so far, although there hasn't been as much drama with the complete jerks getting eliminated early. Barring a major upset, I'd put it between the African American siblings and the group that came in second on Sunday's episode. My only complaint is the compulsion every season to bring the teams to Africa and show at least one team talking about the poverty (usually noting how happy the people are anyway) and getting philosophical about 'the important things in life' or 'how good we have it' or whatever. It's preachy and annoying. I also hate how every episode of the Race ends up delayed 1/2 - 1 hour because of the damn football games, but that's not the show's fault.
I've been uh sort of watching it. It's on when I'm working on my drawings Sunday nights, so I'll watch bits and piece of it when I feel like taking a little break. I've only seen the "All-Star" one and this current season. The others I just never got into.
I still watch it, but the show's getting a little stale and I really don't like that at least 1/4 of the teams every season are 'celebrities' of some kind. This season for example, you have a team of pro wrestlers, a team that was on Survivor at some point and the girl from "Soul Surfer" on another team. Even leaving aside the 'celebrity' teams, the show used to have more 'normal' people on it, but on recent seasons virtually all of the teams are young, pretty and highly telegenic. There's maybe one or two token 'old/regular' people and that's about it. Anyway, at this point it's too early for any of the teams to have made much of an impression on me one way or the other to be cheering 'for' anyone. I'd like to see the three 'celebrity' teams eliminated, particularly the Soul Surfer girl, since I'm already tired of hearing how "inspiring/inspirational" she is.
