I just started reading this manga a few days ago and so far have volumes 1 through 4.

I have to say it's a real thriller, plenty of supsense in there. I'd recomend giving at least the first volume a read. It's an addictive series to say the least. I can't wait for volume 5 to see what happens next.

I've been thinking about picking it up, and almost did about a week ago (picked up the first volume of Monster instead, which was pretty damn good). I'll have to check it out once I'm done catching up the small stack of manga that I haven't finished reading yet.

I really liked the majority of what I've read of Death Note, but at one point (VERY late into the series) I decided that the writer was really stretching things out. Once it got to a certain plotline, I stopped reading it. I don't think the following gives too much away, but here's some spoiler space just to be safe:

I stopped reading it after the "corporate Kira" plotline began.
