While I was reboxing some of my figures tonight, it dawned on me how annoying those damn paper-like ties are that started appearing around Hunt for the Decepticons. The old, bag tie-esque ones with the metal centers were so much easier to work with.

    Anyone else?

Nope, it's easy to cut the strings. I loved opening my Amazon Unicron cuz my Armada one took like 10 minutes.

I prefer the new ones because they're easier to cut through.

No. The new ones are easier to use my exacto-knife on.

I remember it took me like 10-20mins to unbox some really big leader/supreme toys back when they had the old twist ties.

I guess it's all in how you do it. I don't cut mine, because I keep the boxes to put the figures back in when they've run their course on my shelf.

While these are easier, you could use the twist ties for other projects.

Nope. I snip mine with a pair of nail clippers. Easy as pie.

I too am a fan of twisty ties. Actually cut myself for the first time cutting through one of these ones (my own stupidity), but with the twisty ties, I was more apt to untie them for storage later where these I find it easier to cut. Sure it took a while, but they were better for re-securing a figure. These ones are just easier to cut and toss than to fiddle with ever tie them again.

I think the new ones are better for our environment. But I agree that I have problems untieing them. Cutting works best.

Quite a few figures I've had recieved paint wear in the package from the old twist ties. That has yet to happen with the new ones.

I understand the new ones being easier for kids since parents can just cut the new knots. The Takara stuff still use old twist ties so i don't notice the difference :)

I also miss twisties. I'm mostly an MISB collector, but I have to open the packages of those figures that come with batteries. It was easier when there were twisties, which you can re-sue when you put figures back in their boxes. Now those paper-like strings cannot be reused, you have to cut them and they're useless after.

I hear you. When I got RotF Prime, I was sticking my TFTM one back in his box using the plastic twisties, and it was a pain in the balls. I can't imagine how awful it will be to get Sentinel or Starscream back in theirs with the paper ones. I'm at least able to get figures out without cutting the new ones, but it takes some patience.
