I have the book but haven't read it yet. I'm a big fan of Anne Rice's vampire books. Thought maybe I'd read it to see someone else's concept of vampires.
My God, more of this? Honestly, I have not seen the movie or read the book/books, but I cannot fathom for the life of me how people can be so outraged by a movie. Seriously, I feel like I'm in kindergarten, only the children use profanity, poor attempts at wit/sacasm and have computers. (note: this is not directed at anyone in this thread, just stating an observation after prowling the interwebs for knowledge. I have regrets) But seriously, it would be funny if it weren't tragic. (the outrage, not the movie)
D'oh, now I remember. Knowledge is what Discovery Channel and the education system is for. You wonder why I have regrets? This message brought to you by your local school board. Stay in school, kids. It's mighty fine.
I'm not really a fan of anything that tries to make vampires sympathetic or romantic. I know the sexy vampire thing started with Carmilla, but in that the seduction was just a means to get a meal. The romantic vampire thing generally got its start when Hollywood got its hook into Dracula. Anne Rice picked up that torch, has since continued to run screaming with it. We need more vampire movies like 30 Days of Night. That's how ya do vampires.
screw you guys. I'm watching the movie and reading the books and buying the merch just so I can chat up some teenage girls. underage poontang here I come! ...why yes, I will have a seat over there.
The irony of people on a Transformers message board whining about the bad writing of another franchise is so rich I could I eat it with a spoon. A SPOON I SAYS.
I can agree with you on the books but you should watch it with insulting the fan base. I'm sure many here, my self included, have children that are fans. And what "rules of vampires"????? Most of those change with each myth.
Unless you've read the book or seen the movie, what exactly are you basing the hatred on? Hating something just because it is geared towards a fanbase you are not apart of makes no sense. You don't have to like it, just be indifferent. As for 'vampire rules', don't they very in every different story? Vampires in Buffy seem to have different rules than ones in Dracula or other vampire movies. No reason they can't be different in Twilight.
I'm not about to read every page of this thread, but I will say this: It's a movie based on a book. If you don't like it, why do you dwell on it? I ask this of every single person I run across that is so adamant in their hatred toward something. If you hate it, move the hell on. You're just as obsessed as those you complain about if you continue to talk about it or invest time in it. Also, while some of it can be seen as "unhealthy" due to the way some of the characters are and act, people that obsess over this need to realize that it's a novel or a movie. While you can read or enjoy something like this, you need to realize it is simple entertainment for the masses. It was written from a woman's perspective about a young girl in love with a vampire. It may or may not be someone's cup of tea, so if you hate it, drop it and move on. If you enjoy it, admit it and tell everyone who opposes to basically screw off. It's all opinion and while I haven't read it or watched it, I plan to when the DVD is released because my girl is interested and it intrigues me a bit. Trust me, I've seen much worse in my lifetime--a girly vampire book certainly won't be the end all.
twilight is to vampires as naruto is to ninjas.there are rules to vampires as there are rules to ninjas. you can't give someone the ability to suck blood and call them a vampire. twilight "vampire" sparkles emo has venom like a snake super strong can zip around like neo sucks blood vampire sucks blood bursts into flames in sunlight can turn into a bat average strength badass alergic to garlic scared of bright light (but not nessesarily sunlight) actualy creepy. if you need help understanding the concept see bigal2k6, darknessthecurse, and hellsing's 3 part rant on youtube.
