Went on holiday a few years back and left the keys to the house with my aunt to check things out while we were away. Turns out she brang her 8 year old son with her who decided to try and transform some of my bots. He crippled at least five of them...for life. I was more upset with the aunt than with my cousin as he had ample amount of unsupervised time to destroy some of my precious Transformers. First and last time they were trusted.

Your first mistake was giving an old figure to a child instead of a newer and easily replaceable one.

Your second mistake was giving the child a figure that notoriously suffers from GPS.

Keep your room closed and locked.

You should expect this to happen with children around.

Yeah my collecting room is out of bounds. I have picked up some Gobots and other toys they can play with and found thats the best way to keep them out.

Dude that sucks about Pyro, GPS is a mother clucker. I lost 3 Armada Primes to the same thing.

    1. It is to be expected with kids and pets, but....

    2. Not every room has a lock though...

    3. In case of kids you either make it extremely clear they can't touch your TF's

    OR

You make sure you hide the TF's in a cupboard before the kids arrive ; which might be a bit much if you have a huge collection.

Really, even it's not your own kids... they are guests afterall. You have a right to speak up and tell 'em in a straightforward manner they shouldn't touch. This is righteous upbringing and there's nothing wrong with that. And if those kids don't listen it's something their parents FAILED at.

Most simple solution might be the Ikea display cabinets.

Or address it to the parents and tell 'em they should replace any TF the kid broke, despite the fact you told 'em they can't touch it or if he/she managed to get to the TF before you could hide/lock it away.

My grand-daughter, who is 2 and a half right now, is still on good behavior and will not even touch my transformers. She comes to get me when she wants to go look at them and will not enter the room without me.

Get them the PowerBots and it will keep them happy is my rule.

This x 100 if its a particularly expensive or hard to find item. If they came in and destroyed your TV or smashed a window the parent would feel obliged to pay, It the same here too. And it might encourage them to keep a tighter rein on their spawn.

when I was a kid I was well behaved and didn't touch what i was told not too, and my parents weren't mean or beat me, They just thought me how to behave.

You'll want to make sure those G1 Encores/reissues or super rare items are in a cupboard or display cabinet.

But even then. The ROOT of the subject here is, how these kids are raised...or at least...how they are taught to behave when they are guests at someone else's place.

Especially family, aunts/uncles should know how to respect you and your belongings ; which will mean they should show understanding for your concern if their kid broke any of your TF's.

never had that problem with tfs, but i used to collect the 007 cars that had the funky gadgets on them and stuff, and i think all but two were destroyed by my cousin one gleeful afternoon. wasn't impressed. i now have my bookcases on top of little cupboards so little hands can't reach.
EDIT- actually, my chug prowl was killed by my OLDER brother a few months ago XD almost forgot about that! he's nearly thirty, as well!

Not every room has locks, but every room CAN have locks. They're not expensive.

Some of my transformers have teeth marks on them from when my niece was 2 and under, but I taught her quickly not to touch my stuff unless I'm there with her and have given her permission... Which I don't do anymore because she interprets the phrase "be gentle with it" as "BANG LESS HARD."
